Argentina basketball is one of the most strong among the basketball teams. The USA basketball fans also recognize the many Argentine players in the NBA such as Emanuel Ginóbili, Juan Ignacio Sanchéz, and Carlos Delfino. Carlos Delfino was drafted during the 2003 NBA draft. The Argentins team has the greatest strength in the front-court. Along with players Frederico Kammerichs, Walter Hermann, Ruben Wolkowisky, Andres Nocioni, and Luis Scola won over the United States 87-80 in the World Championships in 2002. This was the first defeat of the U.S. team in 59 games since they started sending NBA players to international tournaments in 1992. As a result the Americans had to play Yugoslavia in the quarterfinals. During 1999 World Basketball Championship qualifying tournament, Argentina Forward Nocioni, Andrés; threw some great dunks in the faces of Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. Standing at 6'7”, Nocioni is a great player and takes charges and pushes his way to the basket. He also has a perfect shooting touch. Nocioni currently plays in Spain but the NBA scouts are counting on him to join them.
