QUESTION: I have started my first coloring and I was woundering how do I get that blended effect? What is the secret behind the blending of colors using the blender? How to use it. I am using kent paper and neo piko markers

What kind of paper do you use? And what makers do you use? What technique do you use when you are coloring your artwork?

ANSWER: Hi, I color by computer, but when I do use markers I use tria markers panthone (it was a gift, a whole set :) ) but i've heard that Neopike markers are great. I think "KENT PAPER" paper is also very good, it is espesialy made for markers, marker paper should be smoothe so the colors can blend and so that the paper doesn't suck the ink out of your marker. The best is to not use your markers on normal paper or on aquarel paper or something like that. Marker techniques are basicly the same with every kind of marker. blending is hard and you have to practice it, basicly it is just putting two colors above the other while there still wet. you can also use a blend marker to blend, but this way you also have to do this when the ink is still wet. Also, with markers it is also important to always use the lighter color first for it to blend better, you can only make it darker with markers, so you have to deside before you stard coloring where the light spots are going to be. You can also use mixed media, like color pensils and markers. I like to use water color pensils mixed with markers, but thats harder because the pencils will blend with the marker. That technique may not be very good for the markers, the best is to keep your markers really clean so they will last longer. also try to keep the markers with the point down, so it won't dry out.

QUESTION: Hi! I am about to do a test coloring picture. Do I color first using the blender and then use the color marker? Also, do I soke up the area I want to color with blender or do i use a little?

From: Tina a.k.a. S. Nash
---------------
ANSWER: You can try some test colorings on a separate sheet of paper, then you can see what workes best for you, both ways should work as long as the ink is wet, therefore it is useless to soke up the area, because it dry's to fast and you don't want to blend everything, so you have to know where you want your shading. If you use pencil lines and than use the marker you probibly can't erase the lines. I use my light table so i can put my sketch lines on a different paper. you have to be careful when you do that, because the ink in the markers will heat up, and they spread more. the ink will dry faster to.

good luck
