CHARLES FAZZINO NAMED ARTIST FOR 46TH GRAMMY's
The Recording Academy has chosen 3-D pop artist Charles Fazzino to create the artwork for the 46th Annual GRAMMY Awards. His unique piece — which was unveiled at a press conference today announcing the GRAMMY nominations — will be used as the official image for the world's premier music event and will appear on the cover of the 46th Annual GRAMMY Awards invitation and program book. The 46th GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 8 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m. on the East and West Coasts.
"The Academy is proud to have an artist of Charles Fazzino's
caliber involved in the 46th GRAMMY Awards, and we're excited by the inspiring
and colorful artwork he has created for the show," said Recording Academy
President Neil Portnow. "His unique 3-D style is perfect for a joyful and
celebratory event like the GRAMMYs as it truly captures the creative spirit of
the music community."
As the creator of fine art silkscreen serigraphs, Fazzino is best known for
his use of bright colors and intricate detail, and a hand-assembled 3-D
layering technique that brings his images to life. His art appeals to people
of all ages from diverse cultural backgrounds. Fazzino's mastery of color and
movement has established him among the top contemporary artists of his time. A
graduate of the New York School of Visual Arts, Fazzino has enjoyed a steadily
increased popularity over the course of his 20-year career. He appears at more
than 30 one-man exhibitions and shows annually, and in the midst of his
ambitious travel schedule — including media appearances and charity
promotional events for organizations such as Rosie O'Donnell's For All Kids
Foundation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association — Fazzino finds the time to
create 20 to 30 new editions of art each year.
Over his career, Fazzino has created vibrant tributes to such popular icons as
the New York Yankees, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and the U.S. Olympic Team.
He also boasts a prestigious list of project partners including NBC's "Today
Show," TV Guide, the National Football League, Major League Baseball and
Warner Bros. Studios. With more than 600 galleries exhibiting his pieces
worldwide and a loyal following throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia, Fazzino
is arguably one of the most popular 3-D artists in the world today. His work
can be found in the private collections of prominent public figures including
Sen. Hillary Clinton, Phil Collins, Tina Turner and Julia Roberts. Japan's Mt.
Fuji Museum, the United States Tennis Association Foundation and Swiss
National Television are among the organizations that have commissioned Fazzino
originals.
