Brian painted the series "Children Shouldn't Hurt"  after realizing the damage that was committed against him and his family by the Christian Brothers. Brian and three of his brother's attended St. Joseph's Training School in Alfred, Ontario.  Where they were severely abused by the Christian Brothers, sexually, mentally, emotionally, physically and culturally.  . 

Brian and his brothers were placed by the Ontario courts and Indian Affairs at St. Joseph's training school.  The crime they committed, their father died. The Ontario courts took it upon themselves to determine these boys needed father figures and placed them in the hands of the Christian Brothers.

These paintings are a  tribute to the commitment Brian has for his and his family's healing.  The healing journey continues for both Brian and his family.
