Fugazi: the greatest rock band in the world. U2's full of crap. I mean, they're a pretty good band, but Fugazi would take them out any day of the week. I spent all day long freaking out with anticipation; I was seeing my heroes in concert. And I was not disappointed. As I saw each member of the band get on stage and tune up their instruments and load their gear, the excitement built. "Ohhhhh!! There's Guy! There's Guy!!!" I was like a little girl pointing out members of some boy band. (Well, not really, Fugazi aren't the objects of my prepubescent lust, but you get the picture.) Of course, as is when you have any large crowd of people, somehow a stupid redneck will work his way in. And sure enough, Billy Bob thought it'd be a great idea to go do that crowd surfin' thang he saw in Wayne's World. I guess he didn't get the point of Ian's speech about being responsible (or in less couth ways, "Don't be a fucking asshole!") Billy Bob took to the air for all of about one second when he was immediately pulled down. I was part of the group pulling said asshole down, when my arm got stuck in the process. It's got a light sprain now, but who cares about that? Let's get back to Fugazi! They had to have played for at least 2 and a half hours. Not a moment's rest really for them either. Well besides the minute breaks between encores. I lost count of the encores, not sure if it was 2 or 3. They covered stuff from every album, playing the most stuff from The Argument and End Hits. "Appregiator" at the end of the first set was AMAZING. Appregiator being their best instrumental on record, but it was even better live. Waiting Room was probably the highlight though, as it often is. You can't escape greatness. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE sang along with that song. Even if they'd never heard it before, by the second time the chorus came around, they were in on the action. It might sound cheesy and hackneyed, but for those few minutes, everyone felt like they were part of something bigger than themselves. Yeah, that sounds cheesy allright.
