Info on this FAQ (mn004) =====================================================--- This FAQ uses a code system for easier searching, though it probably isn't needed all that much. If you wish to search for a particular subject, just run a search on the code leading to that area. All chapter and subchapter codes are listed in the table of contents, and subsection codes are listed at the beginning of each subchapter and in places where they are needed (i.e. enemy data codes). This FAQ also looks best in the Terminal font, minimum resolution 800 x 600. Funny how I mention it all the way down here instead of up where it really matters. =====================================================--- E. KWRPGII Overview (ov001) =====================================================--- -= 1.1 Getting Started (ov002) =- Alright, so you got this FAQ, but maybe you haven't gotten the other files yet. What you need is the main game ZIP (on the KWRPG website, it's listed as "Part 1") and the 1.16 patch. If you have broadband, I suggest getting the movies (also known as "Part 2" on the KWRPG site), as well. After they're all done downloading, open the main game's ZIP file in Winzip and extract it to a folder such as C:\KWRPGII or C:\Program Files\Kirby Warrior's RPG II. Then, open the patch ZIP file and extract the contents into the same folder. If you have the movies, unzip it to the same folder, too. Now you can run the game, although I suggest creating a shortcut to RPG_RT.exe (the main program) on your desktop or start menu. If you get an error that's along the lines of "Install English RTP" (I haven't seen the error in a long time, so I don't remember it that well ^^;), that means you'll need the RPG Maker 2000 Runtime Package, which can be found in several places on the net. For your convinience, I hunted down some links for you. One or more might already be broken from the sites getting shut down, though. From Dragoon's RM2K Website: http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/DraGoonsWebPage/Misc/RTP.exe From RM2K Okius: http://mapage.noos.fr/suikonami/RTPe.exe If things fail to work thereafter, then it'd probably be best to post a topic on the forums (http://pub59.ezboard.com/bkirbywarriorsrpgmessageboard69046) in the Help section. -= 1.2 What is KWRPGII? (ov003) =- Kirby Warrior's RPG 2, also known as KWRPGII or KWRPG2, was one of the most-anticipated fangames in Kirby fandom. The game was created in the highly-popular RPG Maker 2000 engine, which was translated by someone who went by the name Don Miguel. RPG Maker 2000 has had a lot of support over the years, and continues to have such, even after the release of the buggy RPG Maker 2003. KWRPGII is a sequel to the original Kirby Warrior's RPG, which was made in RPG Maker 95. KWRPG was a really popular RPG in the Kirby fandom, as it was one of the very few Kirby RPGs at that time. Nowadays, many people are making Kirby RPGs, myself (CyberZ74) included, in KirbyWarrior's wake. Sooner or later, I (CyberZ74) am going to remake Kirby Warrior's RPG in RPG Maker 2000. Then maybe I'll complete the FAQ for it then, as I'll know all of KWRPG by heart. Until then, sorry, but you're going to have to live with the RPG Maker 95 version, even though it's not compatible with pretty much anything. :P -= 1.3 Storyline (ov004) =- This section is incomplete. Please wait until a later version of the FAQ is released. -= 1.4 Controls (ov005) =- Map Controls: Up - Move northward Down - Move southward Left - Move westward Right - Move eastward Enter/Space/Z - Search/Talk Escape/X/Insert - Open Menu Battle/Menu Controls: Up - Move cursor up Down - Move cursor down Left - Move cursor left Right - Move cursor right Enter/Space/Z - Select Escape/X/Insert - Cancel Other Controls: Incomplete, as I have not come across anything needing special controls yet. -= 1.6 Tips & Basics (ov007) =- Save often -You might die when you least expect it, and it really sucks to drop back a few plotpoints and levels because you forgot to save. Believe me, I know. Keep Items Well-Stocked -Many times have I run out of lesser healing items and had to rely on hard-to-replace max tomatoes. Keeping your items well-stocked is easy if you beat up on the enemies that drop more cash than others. Try to Explore Everything -Okay, so I made the FAQ more by cracking into KWRPGII and studying every inch of it than by actually playing. Going by each possible route, however, will further lengthen your game experience. =====================================================--- 2. Walkthrough (wk001) =====================================================--- -= 2.1 The Beginning thru Yogurt Yard (wk002) =- You awaken to find yourself on a large chunk of land hovering in space. Upon further exploration, there appears to be a rope leading to an unaccessible area, a waddle dee, and a ghost. Talking to the waddle dee will lead to him telling you that you are on a slab of Popstar that was taken over. Talking to the ghost, however will make him exclaim "Wee hee hee! You'll never escape!" A battle will promptly start up with him as the enemy. Don't worry about winning, it's a rigged battle. After you die, an opening movie will be played (if you do not have movies enabled, it will just show a message box saying that you don't), then you will awaken on a cliffside next to Hyper Kirby. You and Hyper have a conversation about the dream/vision you had, then decide to go to his house. Hyper's house can be reached by going down the south path. Upon reaching Hyper Kirby's house, you see that it's ablaze. Hyper alerts you of a button inside that activates the fire-extinguishing system. Inside, there are three flames that can be fought. Though you only need to fight the one blocking the fire-extinguishing system button, I suggest fighting them all to gain levels and money. After pressing the button, Hyper ponders how his house caught on fire, then decides you should both seek advice in Yogurt Yard Town. And with that, you head out of Hyper's house. Once you get to Yogurt Yard Town, a waddle dee will be standing close to the entrance. He is relieved to see you well, as he saw the fire from afar. There is an inn and general shop south and to the east (they are the houses with the stars on them). I suggest you get some equipment and items with your money, as they will help a LOT. After you're done taking a look around, head down the south path, talk to the waddle dee, and go into Yogurt Yard. Ah, the first breath in a field crawling with enemies... *breathe* Anyway, there is a river blocking your path. Just head to the east until you find a break in the river. Head south from there and go west until you are back on the path you were originally on before. Heal up and head south, because it's time to fight Pyro Mallet Girl! After you're done fighting her and she retreats, continue heading south and you'll go into a circle of trees. Once you reach the center, the same ghost that was in your dreams will appear! He'll have a small conversation with you, then leave. Data References: Ghost in Dream - dasb001 Hyper Kirby - dasc002 Enemies in Hyper's House - dase001 Enemies in Yogurt Yard - dase002, dase003 Pyro Mallet Girl - dasb002 Extras & Secrets: -In v1.1 and up, if you search a few steps below the pond in the dream world (it might take some hunting down), you'll teleport yourself into a secret room containing a treasure chest containing the Blade of the Damned (dasq[?]), a vending machine (right computer), and a System Graphic changer (left computer. Once you're done, go to the lower-right sewerpipe and search it. You'll be returned to the dream world, where you can continue playing the game as normal. -In Hyper's house, the terminal on the right is actually a TV/VCR combo. It's acts like the Rememberizer from Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, only just nowhere near as portable. Imagine trying to drag that huge thing around. O.o -In Yogurt Yard, 300 stars are hidden in a small, solitary patch of grass. There is also an Airgun hidden in the middle of a patch of grass in the lower-left corner of the fourth section. -= 2.2 Ghost's Trap (wk003) =- Upon reaching the Dream Spring, instead of running into what you'd normally expect, you find yourself on a crystalline bridge with a void of chaos floating underneath it. Both KW and Hyper are surprised and startled with this change, and presume that it was the work of the ghost you met earlier. Just head south until you're into a larger area, then go from there. Head along the path and move the boulder all the way to the bottom by searching it repeatedly. Here you'll find a large cluster of boulders. Time for a Moving Boulder Puzzle. Here is a diagram on how you do it. ------------------------------------ | // .. .. .. .. .. .. EN .. .. // | | // XX .. XX .. XX .. O> .. XX // | | // .. XX .. XX .. O< .. XX .. // | | // XX .. You'll come across another boulder in your path. Do NOT move it all the way, just enough that you can get into the next puzzle. If you moved the boulder correctly, then it should be aligned with the others. Now for the next boulder puzzle. --------------------------- | .. // // // // // // .. | | // // XX .. XX // | ------------------------ Remember, move the side ones first, then the middle one last. Anyway, once you're done with that, you'll be teleported to YET another boulder puzzle. ANOTHER BOULDER PUZZLE! Well, I'm sure you're used to it now, so let's go. This one is going to be even more confusing than the last one, so be prepared. --------------------------------- | // // EN // // // // // // .. | | // .. .. .. Head through the teleporter and you'll find one of the easiest boulder puzzles there is. Just keep pushing the boulder forward. Stepping on the first three transporters will move you behind the boulder again, and the fourth one will lead you to... ANOTHER BOULDER PUZZLE!? God, the ghost really doesn't like you. Well, let's begin. At least it's an easy one. --; ------------------------------ | // EN // // // // // EN // | | // .. // XX // XX // .. // | | // .. XX .. .. .. XX .. // | | // .. .. O^ .. O^ .. .. // | | // // // .. O^ .. // // // | | .. .. // // ST // // .. .. | ------------------------------ After going either path and onto the teleporter, you'll find the ghost, his back facing you. Heal up, save (there will be no savepoint if you have v1.0), and speak to the ghost. He'll summon a monster named Golrok and then teleport away. Once you're done fighting Golrok, head through the teleporter, then down through the exit, and you'll find yourself on the path past the Dream Spring. The ghost appears again and tells you he and his boss's diabolical plans, then makes a deal to wait for you and teleports away. Q: Winzip says the ZIP file is corrupt! What should I do? A: Redownload the game. It's probably due to your Dialup connection acting up, if you have one. If that doesn't work, try another site (i.e. KRR if you downloaded from the KWRPG site). If THAT doesn't work, post a topic on the forum. Q: How do I move? A: See the "Controls" section. I keep getting lost and it seems I've tried every path. can someone give me some directions on where to go (starting from the save point near the shop)? A (by Goldsby): Go west(left) from the save point in the large room. If you collected all 3 eggs and used them, go right and get to the chest for a suprise :D Q (by Diablo the Echidna): After I beat Buggzy and found Spike, my health was really low, so I kept my focus on finding an inn and saving.
