Ramblings at the beginning of the month are at the bottom. Read in order of bottom to top. Yeah, it's a bid odd, but that's the way I typed them when they were on the main page, so that's the way they will be here.

I'm in a little better mood today. Still no cable. I'll let it be known when that get's worked out eventually. *scoffs* Anyway, I just wanted to post some images here that I've made with a new little program I got called Xara 3D. It makes 3D fonts. VERY cool!

Well, it's official. Someone's against me *points up* "up there." Today was the big today for getting broadband access. I was excited and all pumped up for it. And of course, it didn't happen. "Why," you ask? I'll tell you why. We have all the right equipment and everything but the simplest thing could not be done. It was not possible to get the cable into the house. We live in a townhome which means we have to abide by rules set the "association." The association sates that we cannot make any major alteration to the exterior of our home. Which means no cable cords running walls anywhere. "Well then just run it through the basement and up the inside of the house," you say? Can't. My father (for understandable reasons) does not want to drill into the foundation of the house because ever since we moved here our basement hasn't flooded once during a rainstorm and he does not want to give the water a path to take to flood it. I can understand that. That's one possibility down the drain (no pun intended).

My mother has a IDSN line coming into the house for her own work (she works at home and telecommuntes) which meant that when it was being put in, they had to drill a hole through the wall near the ground to get the cable through the house. "Well, why don't they just drill another hole near that one and run the cable through that," you ask? Because the cable modem is hooked up to my computer which is in my room on the second floor of the house and my dad does not want wires running through the ceiling in the house because it looks bad. Now, we could jus cover that with some small molding and make it look really nice, but he doesn't want that. Yet another possibility destroyed.

I have cable television in my room with a wire running into the wall. "Well, why don't you just split that cable and run it from there," you ask? Signal's too weak. Possibility #3 shot down. "How'd they get the cable for the television up there without running it up the side of the house in the first place," you ask? The cable was put in as the house was being built which means it was run up the side of the house, but then the siding was put over it to cover it up. "Well then, how about if you take off the siding and run another cable up," you ask? Yeah, like the association would approve of that in this lifetime. Possibility #4 killed.

My dad has a computer down in the basement. We thought we could hook up the cable modem to his computer and then network it to my computer. (We were always planning on networking the two computers because that's what's necessary for both of us to have broadband access.) "So, run the cable around the house, through the wall near the ground and into the basement and then network the two computers starting with your dad's instead of yours," you suggest? The cable wrapped around the house would be too long. The cable signal would diminish and become sluggish. Oh look, possibility #5 gone up in smoke.

Five possibilities destroyed. The cable guys and my dad ran through pretty much every possibility there was to get the cable line into the house and they coudln't think of anything. My dad is (maybe) going to call a guy who knows how to run wires through walls and does this for a living to see if he can think of anything and maybe just run the cable up through the walls. Until that time in the unknown future, I'm stuck with my sad little 56K connection to the internet struggling to keep up with this ever changing world.

I'm sitting here at my desk at 10:37am on Wednesday morning and I'm bored to tears. I've got nothing to do and I haven't had anything to do that's monumentally exciting for weeks. I'm bored. You'd think with all the graphics programs I have I'd make SOMETHING and do SOMETHING with them but no. I can't think of anything. In a week or two Bryce 5 will be arriving at my doorstep and I'll probably put some images up here that I will make with it. I can't wait to play with metaballs and the tree generator.

Tomorrow, our family is getting broadband access. This is a great thing because I've been bugging my dad to get it for years now. I'll be able to download all sorts of stuff so much faster than I would with my little tiny 56K modem. (You know what's weird? When I sign on to AOL it says it's connected at 115K. Hmmm...can we say "not possible?") Anyway, when I get the cable modem, I will be getting a new email address and I will make it known on here for anyone who wishes to contact me. I will also make it be known in other ways that who ever is reading this knows about so everyone will know.

I'm also getting a nice new 30x60 desk for my room. It'll be a nice change from the 20x40 desk I have now. More room is great.

Looks like this is the day for reporting updates that are happening. Along with Bryce 5, the broadband access, and the new desk, recently I upgraded my RAM. I know it isn't much, but I like it. I don't know how, but I was functioning on 64MB of RAM. Ugh. I added two 128MB chips and now I'm flying on 320MB of RAM. Happy me. Things run much better now. Well, that's all for now. I'm going to take my bored self and go play on the net some more.

After four days of origami I have completed the 490-unit icosahedron! Below are a picture of me holding it and it next to my cat Callie who is camera-shy so she's not looking at the camera. Only cat I know that is camera-shy! ^_^

Completed! Callie & Iscohedron
I did it! It took me four days but I completed the 490-unit icosahedron! This is my extremely camera-shy cat named Callie next to the icosahedron.

Sorry for not updating for such a long time. I just didn't have anything exciting happen in the past five days. Today I went to breakfast with a bunch of my friends. This was the last time I'll see them before they go off to college. I'm not going off to college quite yet because I'm going to community college for the first two years which means I'm living at home. We all had fun. ^_^

In other news, I've taken on yet another origami project. No, it's not as big as the Menger's Sponge project I embarked on in September of 2000. This is nothing compared to that, but it is fairly large to most people. When most people think of origami, they think of cranes, rabbits, dragons, and flowers. Not me. I think of unit origami which looks much cooler. Unit origami is sculptures made anywhere from 2 to an infinite amount of pieces of paper. The Menger's Sponge that I built was made up of 66,048 units. This model I'm making now only has 490. Not that much really...well...for me it's not that much. Hee hee. I've been building it for three days and I've just now reached the halfway point. Well, it's a tad bit more than the halfway point but I decided to take pictures of it now. This model is yet another icosahedron except this model is quite a bit larger than my other ones from before. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

I've finished the Las Vegas page I was talking about yesterday. A link to it is over in the left frame. It's the bottom link. Or you can click here to go to the page. The link in the left frame will always be there if you need it. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

The month of July has moved to the Archives section just like June did. Just in case you were wondering. ^_^

Today's a good day so far. I've had two questions about things and I went online to get the answers and I did. Now that's rare! ^_^ See, the first was how to get rid of that stupid and annoying Shop AOL menu bar that kept appearing on shopping sites whenever I went to them. It was as simple as unchecking a checkbox. I just didn't know where to find it. FYI: Go to your internet properties, AOL Shopping Assistant tab, then uncheck the checkbox. ^_^ The second question was a little more difficult. For some reason, whenever I played sound or movies via Quicktime, the sound vibrated and it was not smooth. It turns out, I had my sound properties in Quicktime set to default when they should have been set to recognize my specific sound card. You learn something new every day. I didn't have to specify my sound card before. Oh well. I now know how. Cool!

The main thing that makes my day great today is that my parents are coming home from Las Vegas! have been in Las Vegas for their 22nd anniversary for the past three days and they are coming home today! They said they took lots of pictures so I'll probably be posting many of them here on a seperate page that will become active within a day or two. I'll make an announcement.

Well, that's about it. Oh, one more thing. Happy 20th birthday, MTV!
