Yuri is Koala's best, and possibly only real friend before her adventures. She sticks up for Koala, and comforts her when she's depressed and alone. She has an interest with reading Tarot Cards, absolutely loves Octopuses (she has a pet), and dresses mostly in darker shades when not in school uniform.
She lives with only her big brother (onii-chan), Umiko. Both her parents were killed in a drinking and driving accident (they weren't the ones drinking) when she was at an age of about 12 or so. Because in Japan, the age of 16 gives legal consent of marriage, she was able to live by herself with her brother.
Yuri is a black magician, and is given magic earrings by Mangetsu, one of Kura's unicorns. During this time she is still remains a close friends with Koala, until she is forced otherwise.
