The Tear

I saw the tear fall,
saw it slide slowly down your cheek.
I saw the pain in your eyes.
I saw you so very weak.
I watched you as your knees shook,
saw you slide slowly to the floor.
And if ever again I see that look
Inside I’ll die once more.
I watched you as you sat there,
like a scared, forsaken newborn.
You probably thought i didn’t care,
if only you knew how my heart was torn.
But life must go on, don’t you know?
That’s what all the people say.
And now I’m afraid I really must go.
So I’ll turn and walk away.
Yes, I saw your tear fall.
Did you see mine?
