Calculating diet using exchange system
Points to remember
- Keep in mind that you are creating a meal plan for real person not imaginary
- Exchange system has 2 main functions
a) it is a tool for translation of diet prescription into meal for diet aids
b) it helps us analyze diet in terms of CHO, Protein and Fat content and appropriate Kcal
Yielded by them.
- Remember to talk to patient first to be able to modify the menu based on pt’s likes and
dislikes
Translate the following foods into exchange and calculate how many Kcal this menu
provides
