The Scenic High Falls - version 2

This is the second version of this poem. In grade 8 my teacher asked if I would like to enter a poetry contest by the Poetry Institute Of Canada. I was going to submit this poem, but we couldn`t find any copies of the original version, so I re-wrote it as best as I could remember. that`s how this version was created. The poem didn`t win a prize, but it was selected from thousands to be published in a book called "The Parting Year." It`s a collection of some of the poems from the contest.

This poem is dedicated to the Scenic High Falls, Wawa, and to the Poetry Institute Of Canada.

As you drive along,
the northern roads of Ontario,
you can always see,
the beautiful falls,
The Scenic High Falls.

The beautiful lacy water flows,
quietly to the bottom,
where it crashes into the river below
like a herd of horses thundering by.

And as you climb
the peaceful nature trail
to the top
a relaxed feeling comes over you
and you see the colourful rainbow.

As you drive away,
on the northern roads of Ontario,
you look back for one more look
at the beautiful falls,
The Scenic High Falls.
