My Star

This poem was inspired my a star I used to look at through my window, but now I can`t see it anymore. I loved that star, and it gave me great joy to see it each night. This poem was published in the Poetry Institute Of Canada`s 2002 anthology "Island Skies".

This poem is dedicated to that star.

So much happening,
too much going on,
overwhelms me to exhaustion.
Laying in bed,
look out my window
and up into the darkened sky
to find my piece of salvation,
and peace of mind.

My soul and spirit
encased in a glowing ball
to last for years on end
and provide peace for another.

Completion to a hard day,
a little reward
something all my own.
Everyone has a star,
and that`s mine.

But then one day,
where there once was a bright light,
is now a darkened spot.
Sadness at first,
followed by hope,
for a new beginning.
