The mannequin used to display the costume was probably a bit larger than Natalie
Portman,
and the jacket could not be closed as tightly as it is on the actress.
This allows us to see the hook and eyes (actually bars ) that are used
to keep the front of the
jacket attached to the front of the dress bodice. This probably helps to keep
the Jacket
in place as the actress moves. It looks like the bar and hook have been painted
purple to
blend with the color of the corset and jacket.
This style of bar and hook can be purchased from Lacis in Berkeley, CA.
