In the Past...

HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO: the four greatest wizards and witches of all time, Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, and Salazar Slytherin, came together to found the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where young people with magical talent could learn to use and control their powers. However, a dispute about whether to admit students of Muggle-descent broke out between Slytherin and the other three, causing him to leave the school. However, before he went, he built a "Chamber of Secrets" that only his true heir could open. This chamber contained a basilisk trained to target and kill Muggle-born students, which was later defeated by Harry Potter in his second year at Hogwarts after the heir's (Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort) spirit opened the chamber through Ginny Weasley.

FIFTY YEARS AGO: Tom Marvolo Riddle attended Hogwarts School. Professor Dumbledore was the Transfiguration teacher. Riddle was given an award for doing the school a special service when, after opening the Chamber of Secrets and killing Moaning Myrtle, "caught" Rubeus Hagrid as the culprit and framed him as the Heir of Slytherin. Hagrid, who had only been raising a giant spider named Aragog, was expelled from school, but kept on as Gamekeeper for the grounds.

TWENTY YEARS AGO: The famed MWP&P faction was at Hogwarts School. James Potter played as a Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch Team and became Head Boy. Lily Evans (his future wife) became Head Girl. Severus Snape was also at school in their year in Slytherin House and there was a great dislike between him and the fabulous four which continued to their adult years. By this time, Albus Dumbledore was Headmaster and admitted Remus Lupin (a werewolf) to the school, taking the precautions of building a secret tunnel to the Shrieking Shack for his monthly usage, with the Whomping Willow planted at its entrance. It was during these years that James, Sirius, and Peter became unregistered Animagi and the Marauder's Map was created.

MEANWHILE... Lord Voldemort was gaining more and more power and his age of Darkness was in full swing. While his loyal faction, called the Death Eaters, hid themselves within the wizarding world and corrupted from within, Voldemort, himself, searched for immortality, ever-more power, and a way to establish his complete dominance and will. The Ministry of Magic was in complete disarray and rising star Bartemius Crouch began his literal "witch-hunts" where Death Eaters were hauled in on miniscule evidence and some turned loose to do more terror in exchange for names of others. The madness finally crumbled in the early 80's when Voldemort personally slew the Potters and was hit by a rebounding curse he cast on Harry Potter, leaving Harry his trade-mark scar. Sirius Black was framed by Pettigrew, a Dark Side spy, for the Potters' murders, and was sent to Azkaban without a trial. Harry then went to live with his relatives, the Dursleys.

The Present...

HARRY POTTER now attends school at Hogwarts with his best friends Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger. Despite his long existence outside of the wizarding world, he is a talented wizard and an ace-flyer, playing the position of Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. He has faced Voldemort four times, to date, and survived each encounter. Supported by numerous friends (Dumbledore, the entire Weasley family, Hermione, Sirius Black, the house-elves, and Hagrid) he aspires and grows beautifully to meet the great destiny that fate seems to have in store for him.

LORD VOLDEMORT, since his downfall a decade ago, has hidden out in the wilds abroad, waiting for one of his loyal minions to find him and restore him to his old power. However, all his most loyal supporters were either bound in Azkaban or too frightened of the Ministry to step out of bounds searching for him, and the Dark Lord waited in vain. Finally, he happened upon a young wizard, Professor Quirrell, whom he persuaded to serve him, and was taken by Quirrell back to England and Hogwarts. However, his attempt to get the Sorcerer's Stone (Philosopher's Stone) to regain his former power and immortality was thwarted, once again, by Harry Potter. When, two years later, Peter Pettigrew returned to him, he was able to regain some health, nursed by his beloved snake, Nagini. He hatched a plan to regain his powers and succeeded through the aid of Peter (aka Wormtail) and Bartemius Crouch Jr. who was posing undercover at Hogwarts as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. Although he managed to regain his power and most of his minions, Harry Potter once again slipped out of his hands.
