Garfield was born in an Italian restaurant in 1978. At birth Garfield weighed 5 POUNDS & 6 OUNCES!(that is huge for a kitten) Unfortunately the owner of the restaurant was not willing to keep Garfield. (apparently Garfield kept eating all the lasagna) Garfield was then sold to a pet store. The next thing Garfield new he was purchased by a skinny cartoonist named Jon Arbuckle.
