The Carol (pronounced care-ol) is a joyous hymn. The Carol begins with a two line predecessor (called a Texte Couplet) followed by any number of quattrain stanzas following a set rhyming pattern. However, the last line of each of the stanzas rhyme with the beginning couplet lines.
