<XMP><BODY></xmp> Small combat ekranoplans

Manta Flarecraft.

While the military potential of large ekranoplans has been appreciated by many, less attention has been given to smaller Wing in Surface Effect (WISE) aircraft, even though several types already exist.
Manta Flarecraft are small one or two man ekranoplans.
In the anti-sub role these land on the surface to use dunking sonar and attack contacts with ASW torpedoes. Other Mantas use AWACS-RPVs as their eyes and carry long range surface to air and surface to surface missiles. Possibly these missiles could be a dual purpose design such as a supersonic rocket/ramjet. Mantas would also perform strike and minesweeping missions.
For self defence the Manta has a dorsally mounted 20mm CISW turret.

FEEDBACK
I just thought that I would mention an idea I had for your small WISE or WIG craft. Forced Entry Support. Equip them with rocket pods and a 30 or 40 mm cannon and they would be ideal for striking the beachhead locations and returning to the support ships for rapid reloads. They would also be very adept at screening the fleet from small attack craft and kamikazee speedboats.

Hellfire missiles would make quite a good armament in this role too.
