TECHNICAL THEATRE

This class is aimed at students who are interested in both performance and Techincal Theatre. Through hands-on experience students will be introduced to the behind-the-scenes activities of Musical Theatre production. Participants assist with the design and construction of the scenic slements of the three - five major musicals produced during the Festival of Shows. This course exposes students to a variety of professional opportunities in the theatre other than performing; lighting design, scenic design, sound design, costume design, set construction and decoration, and crew work. Students of the performing arts need a background in the practical workings of the theatre in order to fully appreciate their craft. (Elective, 2 hrs.)
