Improv helps students in developing performance skill and leads them to an understanding of what it is to be an artist. The class does not merely provide students with theatre experiences but helps them become responsive to their fellow players. It allows them to create an environment through behavior and to transform ordinary objects into extraordinary ones. Activities include: theatre games, performance skills, basic rules of storytelling, literary criticism and character analysis. Through play, they will develop imagination and intuition finding it easier to project themselves into unfamiliar situations. The course exposes them to their own creative and artistic possibilities and participants become adept at focusing their energies and sharing what they know. The curriculum goes beyond the theatrical to nurture skills and attitudes that are useful in every aspect of learning and life. (Elective, 2 hrs.)
