PROFILE: My grudging acceptance of yet another partner was brought about by something of an ambush; while Tim deduced my secrat identity, Dick persuasively argued that excessive brutalities on my part were due to the absence of a Robin by my side. He had a point, but they were also, at least in part, a resonse t the tragic death of the previous Robin, Jason, who died at the Joker’s hands. In any case, it all worked out for the best. Tim, more independent than the previous Robins, has proven himself to be unlike any partner I’ve worked with before and is a welcome addition to the batcave.
He still lives with his father (his mother is deceased), is attending school and trying to pursue a social life. He has indicated on more than one occasion that he does not expect to continue on forever as a costumed vigilante, and yet works easily twice as hard at what he does than many career-oriented individuals.
Lacking Dick’s natural athletic abilites, Tim has trained harder than even he admits, constantly striving to sharpen his instincts and skills. He’s mastered the Bo staff, the Batarang, shuriken and sling-shot, and continues to diligently study martial arts. His computer skills were already at an extremely high level when he assumed the Robin identity, and he pursues mastery of detection skills with steady determination.
PERSONAL NOTES: Tim is a very human hero, though not as easily “played” as one might think. He has had the misforune of working with me at my worst, and also with Jean Paul during his disastrous run as Batman, and so already knows better than to blindly trust anyone in a costume. I am pleased to have him working as my partner.
