With the help from the Alpha Mu Zeta Graduate Chapter the Beta Beta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded on the campus of AM&N College now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on December 17, 1952, by 11 women. Emma J. Brown served as Sponsor; Janie Townsend, Assistant Sponsor; and Katherine G. Durvan, Consultant. Erasaline Porchia served as the first Basileus of the Beta Beta Chapter. During its first year on the campus, the Beta Beta Chapter initiated twenty members.
