Poetic Angel
The Lonesome Sparrow
The bird flew by me, and I gazed in wonder,
Its beauty was magnificent; it’s eyes so sweet.
It’s flight so glorious, and smooth,
Flying by me many times, I’d stop and wonder,
Could I make it mine, have it for myself,
But as I watched it more and more I noticed,
It was not free; it was mistreated and betrayed,
It flew with such grace, and dignity,
That I could not see the scars that lay
Beneath it’s wings,
Many scars that I only noticed,
When it stood near me,
Oh, so much, did I want to show it love,
And understanding,
To show it another way, another life,
I knew that one day I would get close enough,
To allow it to be all that it could be,
To soar like it had never done before,
Show it a new direction, a new way of flight,
A new way to soar with the eagles,
Rather than be left behind,
As a lonesome sparrow.
