Balls and Such
|
-The Golden Snitch. The most important ball in the game, because a game of Quidditch only ends when this ball is caught. It's the Seeker's job to try to find this ball and earn their team an extra 150 points. The Snitch is the only game ball that is actually used during a game of Internet Quidditch. |
|
-The Bludger, a heavy black ball. There are two of them on each team. The Beaters hold clubs to knock the Bludgers toward the opposing team's players. |
|
-The Quaffle. It makes the goals. The Seekers pass the Quaffle to each other to try to make a goal through the opposing team's goal hoops. The Keeper defends the three goal hoops on either side of the field. |
('Net) Players and Such
Seeker: Has the task of searching for the Snitch (see pic above) somewhere in this website.
Beater: Has the of PM-ing the Chasers on the opposing team. Instead of just one Beaters per team like the Quidditch in the book, there are three Beaters per team.
Chaser: Has the game-forming assignment of answering the Harry Potter questions that the ref asks.
There is no Keeper in this Quidditch!
How to Play Internet Quidditch
1. The Quidditch players for both teams playing, the referee (me), and the alternate referee (a position which can be volunteered for), will all gather in the club chatroom at the scheduled playing time. For the sake of the Cheating Policy, those people and ONLY those people need to be in the chatroom during a match.
2. After checking to see that all the players and alternate ref are there, I will leave for about ten minutes and hide the Snitch somewhere within this website. The ref will start the game. The Snitch will never be hidden in a password-protected page. The Snitch the Seekers are looking for is the same thing as the picture above ^, though not always the same size. Then, after I hide the Snitch, I will come back and send the Seekers off to find it.
3. When I hide the Snitch I will link it to a message board. If a Seeker finds it, they will have to click on it and post a message on the message board saying they found it. Then they need to come back and tell me the URL of the page they found the Snitch at. I check will to see if they were really there. If they were, the game is over and that team is rewarded with 150 extra points.
4. When I get back from hiding the Snitch I will take over the alternate ref's job of asking questions. All of the questions' answers can be found in the books. EXAMPLE: What House was Lord Voldemort in? After I ask a question the Chasers will try to answer it as fast as they can. The first Chaser to answer correctly gets 10 points for their team.
5. Throughout the game, the Beaters will be trying to distract Chasers by PM-ing them. The Chasers must reply to the Beaters' PMs. CHASERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO IGNORE BEATERS! Beaters must report to the ref or alternate ref if a Chaser does not answer them. There are only two rules for Beaters: 1.) After the ref or alternate ref is finished asking a question, they must wait 5 seconds afterward before PM-ing an opposing Chaser, and 2.) The Beaters can only PM ONCE per question, they are not allowed to continually PM Chasers. Chasers should inform the ref or alternate ref if a Beater does not follow the rules. If a Chaser or Beater breaks regulation, they will lose 30 points for their team. After three offenses, they will be kicked off the team.
Quidditch tryouts will be held after Term starts
