Unspoken Words

"Hmm this is weird" Brian thought to himself. It was about mid afternoon and he was bored so he descided to go throught some of the fan mail. He was about to read one then another one caught his eye. It was pretty plain. Just a stamp, and the address, but no return address. He compared it to the others those usually said things like "Will you marry me?" & "I Love You!!!!" to name a couple but this letter said nothing. He opened it and read it. ABout halfway through his eyes teared a little and descided to read it to the other guys.

"Hey guys come here" BRian said as he entered the entertainment room on the bus.
"What is it Brian?" Nick asked looking at the letter in Brians hand, "Reading fanmail again?"
"Yeah but you guys have got to hear this one."
"Whats so special about it?" KEvin asked wonderingas to why his cousin thought this one letter was so important.
"Just listen." Brian begain to read the letter:

Dear Nick,Brian,A.J.,Kevin,Howie:

First of all I want to say that I am not some crazed,obsessed,teeny-boppin Backstreet Fan. And I don't care if you ever even glance at this letter. Just writing it on paper was enough for me. I just wanted to tell you that your music has literally saved my life. My mom & dad were killed by a plane crash a few years ago. So my brother who was a legal adult at the time, went to court and gained custody of me. Soon after he started drinking, too much. If I so much as moved in his presence he would have beat me senseless. I was almost killed once. And that is no exaggeration. After I turned 18 a few months later he went to a party with his college friends and was almost knocked out cold. He took the keys. Somehow someway he managed to kill himself, his bestfriend, his girlfriend, and the people in the other car who were coming home from a FAMILY vacation. But anyways when my brother gained custody of me and started drinking. I would stay in my room all night listening to the sounds of your wonderful soothing voices. I would listen to the lyrics very closely and find a meaning to them all. At that time I didn't even know who you were. I still love your msuci more than you guys. I wouldn't be able to get your names straight sometimes. Not many people say that so take it as a good compliment. Then I picked up the guitar and learned to play and sing them. I still do to this day. Even after my brother was killed. But your music saved my life. one night, July 15 to be exact, Ithought I had enough with my life and decided to end it. But somehow your music was playing in the background and I didn't hear it. It was Roll With It. I decided that I couldn't die I was too young. And I wasn't going to die without being able to listen to your voices. That was a year ago. And now im alive, healthy and have a will to live. And I don't watch MTV so I can't catch up on your lasest news or looks for fear of finding out that you've split for some reason. Before I forget I would also like to say that I'm extremly for the engagement Kevin and Brian! I hope you two guys and the best of luck with your future wwives. Nick, Howie, A.J., can't wait to her when you guys are engaged! I know your thinking by now that I'm really weird for some reason. But to me your just normal guys. Who share there wonderful abiliries/talents with the world. And when you guys split, yes WHEN you guys split, I dont want it to be because you had a big fight over something. I want it to be because you said that it was time for the Backstreet Boys to come to an end. BEcause fame and fortune don't last forever in the music business. And in years to some you will all be married and wanting to have families believe it or not! Well this is all I have to say. I know this is a thrown together letter for you guys and its probably hard to understand. But if you ever need to take a break or just get away from it all, or just to talk to a frieldny voice that cares about everyone and everything you have to say feel free to give me a call or stop by anytime. I have a couple of spare bedrooms. So with that I will leave with some words of advice: "Smile, it takes 14 mulcles to smile and 16 to frown. Thats why some people are so worn out when they go to bed at night!" and "Don't forget your normal people the only thing that makes you different from other people is you've seen the world and you share your talents with them." and "Trust me on the sunscreen! You'll need it later on!"

A Backstreet music lover for life,

Jessica Matthews

Brian looked up from reading this. Seeing a look of shock, sympathy and confusement on the guys faces. He noticed Nick and let a single tear down his cheeck. But didn't bother to wipe it away.
No one could manage to say anything."Why don't we give her a call and see how she's doing? This letter was written about a year ago. Maybe she's still there." asked A.J. who was now holding the letter.
"Sure that would be a great idea. I'll go call her and see if she's home." Brian said taking the peice of paper back. He walked to the phone and dialed the number on the paper.
"uh Hi! Dones a Jessica Matthews live at this residence?"
"Jessica Matthews." Brian repeated. His face now turned a light pale color and a look of sadness washed over him. "yes..thank-you."
"So?" Kevin asked.
"They said that Jessica Matthews died a couple of weeks ago." he paused, "When her roomate walked in she saw her lying on her bed with our CD in and her guitar next to her along with a pool of blood and some pills. Turns out her boyfriend was saying that she loved her music more than him and he couldn't take the jealously so he decided to kill her first with the drug overdose then when she didn't knock out he shot her. He confessed to the whole thing to the police." Everyone stood silent. Not knowing what to say. Not believing that they had made a difference in one persons life so much to save her life for only a couple of months.
"Sounds like shes had a rough time." Howie said.

~*~*~*~*~Later that night at the concert~*~*~*~*~

"The guys and myself would like to personally dedicate this song to a young woman who unforunatly couldn't be here with us today. We hope she is watching. This is just for you Jessica Matthews." Brian said into the crowd soon after "Roll With It" came on. And all 5 men sang their hearts out having Jessica in mind the whole time each almost crying right their on stage. Knowing that Jessica was watching and hopefully smiling.
