After All Is Said And Done

By The Cheshire Cat

Dedication: I thought I'd join the queue for remembering Sir Alec Guinness.

The Sith had fallen. Vader was dead and Anakin's soul had reunited with his former Master and all the other Jedi. But still, he had questions…as did others.

"Do you have any regrets?" Qui-Gon asked his former Padawan.

"Of course I do," Obi-Wan said, placing an arm over Anakin's shoulders. "But not for anything I did. Rather, about what I didn't do… and didn't say."

Anakin looked at his former Master. "What would you have done differently?" he asked.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?" both Anakin and Qui-Gon said in surprise.

"We are products of our experiences," Obi-Wan said slowly. "If I had not left the Jedi for a time as an adolescent, I would not have grown to be the man I did. If I had done other things differently, I would not be who I am."

By 'other things' both companions knew that he meant Anakin's fall – but neither spoke his thoughts aloud.

"If you had known, if you could have seen the future with absolute clarity…" Qui-Gon started.

Obi-Wan reached over and clasped his hand. His other arm squeezed Anakin's shoulders tightly.

"Even if I had known everything, I wouldn't change a day."

His two companions looked at him with shocked expressions.

"Well, maybe that whole Jar-Jar thing… I could've lived without that."

THE END
