Darkness

Darkness, be my companion,
come and place your cloak over me,
bring me comfort and silence.

Tell no one of the sorrow I feel,
give me quiet peace.

Take away life's burdens,
the heaviness of the spirit within.

Turn my eyes from seeing
the horrors of life,
cover my ears from hearing
the cries of strife.

Hide me from reality,
that I may live a fantasy
and never more bleed for humanity.
