Rizam is the last of the true Feuadal Empires. It is ruled by one King who's dictates are handed down through lords and local barons. Most outside of Rizam see this method of ruling as rather barbaric, but the people of Rizam still accept its ideals warmly. Even the peasant class of folk feel that their way of life is quite simple, and quite fine. They see the other empires clouding with ever growing conspiriacy, and dishonor. They would rather work hard as a peasant, than be able to take a seat as a ruler only to have a former friend stab you in the back to gain more for himself.
Rizam's King is called the Great Duke. He rules over all the Empire entire, through the faithful service of his Lords. The crown of the Duke will always be passed from father to firstborn Son. In the case of no sons for an heir, the first born son of the daughter of the King shall take the crown. If the King has no children at all, the second in line for the crown is whoever holds the title of Lord Volthgaar.
The Great Duke usually maintains a council Comprising of the 5 barons, theRoyal Chancellor, Master General of the Army, and any other confidents he wishes to include.
Outside of this the Kingdom is split into the 5 realms, ruled by Volthgaar, Thorus, Volcanus, Tempus, and Krassus. (these are the titles the barons hold reguardless of family name). Inside the 5 realms, the laws of the king are maintained by local barons who own lands in each of their own baronies or shires. The Local barons have sworn fealty to the king, and yearly supply the amount of gold, silver, weapons, cattle, wine, or any other tax that has been levied against them. In return all the people are given the freedom that is provided by the king and the Royal Army.
