Physical Description: The Dwarves of Ashr'alan are a small and stout race of folk. They stand on an average height of some four feet, and are very stalkily built. They love to grow their hair and beards out long, and braid them intricately. A sign of great pride for a dwarve is his hair, and many nobles spend their lives cultivating them. The Dwarves at one time had many varieties in skin tone and color, but only one strand of dwarven blood remains now, and most dwarves are similir in skin tone and hair color. Most have brownish hair, eyes, and a dully grey skin. Occassionly one is found with blonde or red hair.
Culture/Society: The dwarves of Ashr'alan are a slowly dwindling race. Their power base has slowly shrunk to a few Kingdoms in the Skyfire mountain ranges of the West. Their Empire once ranged all along the mountainous regions of the West, and the Northern frozen wastes in the East. However due to conflicts both internal and external, the Dwarves now sit in their last few mountain bastions, trying to recouperate. Only the Bloodline of the Kurok remains out of the supposed original five dwarven brothers who were the firstborn among dwarves. The dwarves retain some relations with the Humans of the south in Maxima, but are wary of the barbarians of Rizam, since they have warred and lost much land to them in their past. At least for now the dwarves have a tenative peace with their neighbors. Their only struggle is against the roaming bands of goblinoids who seek to find shelter int he protective shell of the mountains from their enemies in the outer world.
