Francis Thomas c1887-1980

Francis Thomas Marker

The full inscription (will) read:

Miss FRANCIS THOMAS
daughter of xxx & xxx THOMAS
xxx xx, 1887 - Mar xx, 1980

This stone measures X X . It was placed by the Fluty Cemetery Association in 2001. The original metal marker had been removed and so we relied on the testimony and memory of those attending Miss Francis' funeral to place the marker.

It is located in a section toward the back of the cemetery on the far right side. Graves nearby include those of the McGinniss family. I note that when Callie McGinniss died in 1936 she had a sister 'Miss Frances Thomas of Mountain Home'. Since Callie was a Thomas, I suspect this was her younger sister who never married.

Miss Francis lived in a house on Sixth Street/West Road where the employee parking lot for First National Bank now stands. She lived to be 93 years old. When he was a young man, Pete Pyeatt, used to care for Miss Francis' yard and said you couldn't meet a nicer lady.
