Deborah Caldwell 1824 - 1895

The Caldwell family came to Fulton County, AR, (south of Bakersfield, MO) from Roane County, Tennessee, in a wagon train October 8, 1882, with the Morrisons, Henry Smith, Thomas Neills and the Richard Thomas (George) Price family, according to "The Family of James Barnard Morrison and Anna Holmes Morrison" compiled by Helen Evelyn Cox Mills, May 1979, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I wonder if Deborah was the first of this group to perish in this, their new land.

I will try to find Deborah with her family on the 1880 census of Roane Co, TN.

Deborah Caldwell Headstone

This headstone inscription reads as follows:

DEBORAH
CALDWELL
APR. 2, 1824
FEB. 25, 1895

A footstone engraved with 'D. C.' marks the grave. The headstone has a floral type design across the top for decoration. The stone is curved at the top and measures x x .

It is located in the back left corner of the cemetery and is the second stone at that end. She is buried beside (to the left if you are facing the stones) Anna Morrison and near a few graves marked only with fieldstones. According to Pauline Hodges, many years ago there were at least three more headstones beside Deborah's.
