Transfer Rumours

The Arsenal are proud of our policy of promoting young enterprise. Here our junior reporter gives her (yes, her) views on the transfer speculation found in this morning's tabloids.

At the moment it is clear that the current Arsenal first team is not necessarily the team we will see playing in August. Arsene Wenger has recently announced that next season a squad rotation system will be used because of the immense quantity of matches that will played. All of the players who are presently in the Arsenal first team will surely feature in this system if they are still at the club. Arsenal have been linked with a number of players due to Wenger's revelation that he is intending to buy two strikers (because of the departure of Kaba Diawara and the concern surrounding the future of Nicholas Anelka) as well as one or two midfielders.

It also looks likely that Wenger is searching for a left back because he has already signed Dynamo Kiev right-back Oleg Luhzny who will probably rotate with Arsenal veteran Lee Dixon although Luhzny can also play in midfield. This shows that Wenger may also want a left-back to rotate with Nigel Winterburn as he has already shown interest in Italian international Gianluca Pessotto.

There have also been rumours that Steve Bould is not happy with the one year deal Arsenal are offering him- he would prefer a two year contract. Therefore the 37 year-old may leave on a free transfer. If Bould was to leave Liverpool would probably be interested in the former England defender. Arsenal have also shown an interest in Robbie Fowler and Roberto Muzzi of Italian side Cagliari. Both players would be good additions to Arsenal's strikeforce.
