MATT PERRY TOLD: STAY SOBER FOR 1 YEAR AND I'LL MARRY YOU
Matthew Perry is hooked on ... marriage!

His latest stint in drug rehab really helped put his priorities in place, and marriage is at the top of his list.

After seeing how his on-again, off-again girlfriend Jamie Tarses stuck by his side while other friends started losing patience with him, Matthew is convinced he wants to settle down with the former ABC programming honcho and start a family.

Now all he has to do is convince her that he'll stay clean!

This isn't the first time the Friends star, 31, has asked Jamie, 37, to marry him. She turned him down a few years ago, after meeting him at the NBC studios in Burbank. But this time, devoted Jamie accepted a four-carat diamond ring. The catch is that she's keeping it in a safe place until Matthew proves he can stay sober for an entire year. We have our fingers crossed.

Behind the Seams
That much anticipated Monica-Chandler wedding on May 17 will have the femmes of Friends dripping in enough diamonds to make even Elizabeth Taylor squeal. New York City designer Lorraine Schwartz supplied the rocks for the episode, adorning bride Courteney Cox Arquette in a snazzy $80,000 yellow-and-white-diamond necklace and putting a $75,000 ca. 1920s emerald bracelet on Lisa Kudrow's wrist. But guest star Kathleen Turner - who plays groom Matthew Perry's cross-dressing father - boasts the top trinket: a 55-carat diamond necklace valued at a whopping $800,000 . . .

SERVICING MATT
Matthew Perry is preparing to return to work on the Texas set of his new flick, Servicing Sara.

The movie was shut down a few months back when the actor admitted he had a drug problem and checked himself into rehab.

Before returning, though, Matt told producers he wanted to start a fresh with a whole new crew and set of stand-ins to work on the film. Few of the old crew people were invited back, and they were perplexed because they all got along so well. Maybe TOO well.

Apparently, Matt and some of his set-siders enjoyed partying together and quite possibly he didn't want to be tempted again.

Elizabeth Hurley is happy Matthew Perry is back because she can finally get to know him properly.

Hurley, who co-stars with Perry in Servicing Sara, was forced to take time away from the Texas film set, after the Friends actor was taken to hospital for a reported addiction to prescription painkillers.

And now work has resumed on the movie, the Estee Lauder model, 35, is glad she finally has the opportunity to acquaint herself with Perry. She says: "Matthew is unbelievably nice! I was fond of him before but we didn't have much of a connection and now we realise why, because I guess he was disconnected to himself at that time.

"Now we sit around on the set all day and giggle and laugh, playing silly games, and he's lovely!" She adds: "He's so talented too. I think he's going to get it together. And he's young, so hopefully this is his time."

Friends star Matthew Perry has turned to acupuncture in a bid to beat his drug demons. He checked himself into a rehab clinic again on the advice of his doctors in February to battle his addiction to painkillers, and has turned to the ancient Chinese medicine in the hope of kicking the habit for good.

A source says: "Matthew saw an article about acupuncture tapping into the central nervous system to re-channel the body's electricity in a healing way: During his treatments he gets 30 needles inserted in his feet, chest, legs and hands. It's done in a peaceful, darkened room, where a heat lamp is set up to keep him warm. He desperately wants to get well and the acupuncture is helping him stay in control."

Details emerge on Perry's rehab
LOS ANGELES (Launch) - New details are emerging about Matthew Perry's most recent battle with addiction. The new issue of US magazine reveals that the star of "Friends," who checked himself into a detox program last month, "was riding a pharmaceutical roller coaster," according to the magazine. Perry, who had begun drinking again, was reportedly hooked on Vicodin, a prescription drug that prompted a rehab stay years before, as well as methadone and methamphetamines. The magazine reports that Perry sought the attention of a doctor while on the set of the new comedy "Servicing Sara" because his stomach pain - caused by his drug-and-alcohol cocktail - was becoming unbearable. The doctor suggested Perry enter rehab, and the actor conceded, flying from the Dallas location to Los Angeles, where his father escorted him to a rehabilitation facility.

Not a Perry Good Idea
Friends star to play Bond? We're shaken, not stirred
Friends sitcom star Matthew Perry may be the first American to play James Bond. The comedian is said to be in serious talks to take over the 007 role when Pierce Brosnan gives up the part after completing his fourth spy adventure Beyond the Ice. Sources close to the new Bond production, which starts production in July, say Perry has the charm, youth and talent to take the long-running franchise into the new Millennium. But Bond movie-makers Eon Productions deny any proper discussions have started about a replacement for Bond. Ralph Fiennes, Rupert Everett, Ioan Gruffudd and even singer Robbie Williams have all been linked with the part in the past and if Perry did indeed land the plum role his Bond would obviously be more along the lines of Roger Moore's jokey protrayal than Sean Connery's charming macho one.

There have been various reports of Matthew going into rehab yesterday (Monday, 26th). Below is the report from Associated Press.

Matthew Perry enters rehab
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Matthew Perry, the star of "Friends," has entered a rehabilitation clinic for treatment of an undisclosed condition, the actor's spokeswoman said Monday. "Following the advice of his doctors, Matthew Perry has entered an undisclosed rehabilitation hospital," publicist Lisa Kasteler said. "Matthew has every intention of completing his treatment so that he can continue his dream of entertaining people and making them laugh." The statement offered no clues to why the 32-year-old actor needed rehabilitation or where he was hospitalized. Kasteler's office refused to disclose further details. Perry is one of six co-stars of the wildly popular "Friends," a staple of NBC's Thursday night lineup. In 1997, he entered a rehabilitation hospital for the "early stages of chemical dependency," Kasteler said at the time.

People magazine reported that he became addicted to the painkiller Vicodin after suffering wisdom-tooth problems and injuries from an accident on a watercraft. Last June, Perry wrecked his Porsche on the narrow streets of the Hollywood Hills. No one was injured, and investigators said Perry was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The crash occurred the day Perry ended a two-week stay at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for what he said was a stomach illness. He later joked about rumors that he was suffering from pancreatitis, liver failure or a high-protein diet gone bad. "At one point there was this story in a London tabloid that all the 'Friends' had gathered around me, and I enjoyed the image of that," Perry said.

Friends' David Schwimmer has proved he's just as gullible as his alter ego, Ross Geller. "I've just been beaten up by thugs and I'm servicing Elizabeth Hurley!" -- Matthew Perry

MATTHEW PERRY is tireless -- as he shoots another feature on his holiday break! We caught up with him and found out exactly how he's servicing LIZ HURLEY -- and whether or not he will play the next JAMES BOND!

ET: What a way to spend your holiday break. You don't have one!

MATTHEW PERRY: I don't have a break. No, I'm in Harlem, but with ELIZABETH HURLEY so it's not all bad.

ET: Tell us the title of the movie.

Matthew: 'Servicing Sara.' I have to service Elizabeth Hurley and they're paying me to do it, so it's quite an easy gig.
I'm a process server. I serve subpoenas, but who knows what'sgoing to happen by the end of the movie! I'm trying as hard as I can to get some love scenes put in the picture but Elizabeth, actually Elizabeth's really been trying hard to get some love scenes, and we'll see what happens.

ET: And we should point out we're actually in Harlem.

Matthew: We're in Harlem. We're in a nail place in Harlem, that's where we are. I've just been beaten up by thugs and I'm servicing Elizabeth Hurley.

ET: What could be ...

Matthew: What could be better?

ET: So what is this about?

Matthew: This is a story about a down-and-out guy. He's really down on his luck and he has to service a subpoena to Elizabeth Hurley, it's kind of a "Midnight Run-ish" kind of road picture except instead of CHARLES GRODIN I get Elizabeth Hurley.

ET: That is so cool.

Matthew: There you go. She's really funny. Who knew that she was funny? Beautiful and funny, it's like three girls I know on some TV show.

ET: How was shooting in New York City?

Matthew: It's freezing cold. It's freezing, freezing, freezing cold. I'd much rather play, you know, Chandler on "Friends" than run through the streets of New York in the middle of winter but what the hell, they're paying me!

ET: One last thing.

Matthew: No, no that's it. Okay. What else?

ET: We're hearing you're going to be the next "James Bond." Is that true? Honestly, this is the report....

Matthew: The report is that I'm the next James Bond? Really? Don't you have to have a British accent to be the next James Bond? (with accent) I could possibly be James Bond. I don't know (loses accent). Is that really a rumor?

ET: Honestly, this is what is coming out.

Matthew: Come talk to me. We'll see. Maybe when I'm finished with this.

ET: Wouldn't that be fun?

Matthew: Yeah, interesting.

ET: Shaken not stirred.

Matthew: Yeah. The new Bond. Interesting.

Battle-tested Campbell adds 3 feature roles
By Zorianna Kit

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Bruce Campbell has been added to the cast of Mandalay Pictures' "Servicing Sarah" for director Reginald Hudlin. He also has signed for roles in Columbia Pictures' "Spiderman" for director Sam Raimi and Frank Darabont's "Bijou" for Castle Rock Entertainment.

"Sarah" is shooting, "Spiderman" is scheduled to get under way next month, and "Bijou," starring Jim Carrey, is set for a February start.

"Sarah" centers on a process server (Matthew Perry) who is persuaded by a New York wife (Elizabeth Hurley) to serve her husband (Campbell) in Texas with divorce papers. The process server and the woman embark on a road trip to the Lone Star State from the Big Apple to do the job.

Campbell recently toplined the syndicated television action-adventure comedy series "Jack of All Trades." Before that, he had recurring roles in two other syndicated action-adventure series from the same producers, "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: Warrior Princess."

In the spring, Campbell was a strong contender to replace David Duchovny in Fox's "The X-Files," a role that went to Robert Patrick. Campbell appeared in the Ellen DeGeneres comedy "Ellen" on ABC, and his feature credits include roles in "The Hudsucker Proxy," "Congo" and "Escape From L.A."

Campbell is repped by Agency for the Performing Arts' Barry McPherson and manager Robert Stein. He is also an author whose autobiography, "Leading With My Chin: Confessions of a B Movie Actor," is due out in June from St. Martin's Press.
