Sin.jpg (6146 bytes)Helldusk: Perhaps I shan't surprise you, Sin, if I'll tell you that Lord Belial is known in Russia? I heard that your concert in Moscow was cancelled, what's happened? Are you still going to go in Russia?

Sin: The reason why we had to cancel the gig in Moscow was that Dark broke some bones in his right hand just 2 weeks before the gig. What we know for now there are no gigs booked in Russia for the moment, but it would be great playing there sometime.

Helldusk:
So please tell me about the history of a band... When and by whom it was formed, how old are the members, etc.

Sin: Lord Belial was formed in 1993 by the same members as it is today:

Dark - vocals/guitars (25),
Vassago
- guitars (31),
Bloodlord
- bass (28),
Sin
- drums (31).

Helldusk: "Enter The Moonlight Gate" was one of the best Black Metal releases of 1997. What do you think about it? Do you satisfied with this album?

Sin:
Well... I am satisfied with it, but as usual some things could be done different.. It is always like that, after some months we always find lots of things that could be done in a better way...

Helldusk: Fucking right! Tell me more about your releases.

Sin: We have released 3 albums for No Fashion Records: "Kiss The Goat" (1995), "Enter The Moonlight Gate" (1997) and "Unholy Crusade" (1999). Our contract is for 5 albums... we also released 2 demotapes and 2 videos.

Helldusk: Your latest album "Unholy Crusade" seems to be more death-metallish than black-metallish. How do you think? But by the other look it's more aggressive and less melodic than the previous one. Are you guys decided to become a True Black Metal band?

Sin: I don't care what anyone call the music, as long as we do music that I like, I am satisfied. I also listen to lots of death metal and I enjoy aggressive music whatever it is called. I don't think we are or will be a true black metal band.

Helldusk: How you would characterize your style?

Sin:
Really good music ;)

Helldusk: On your albums you using female vocal as well. Who are that girl who helping you with the record?

Sin:
Her name is Marielle Andersson and she is Dark's ex-girlfriend.

Helldusk: What Lord Belial lyrics about?

Sin: Demons, war against religion, war against humanity.......

Helldusk: Who writes all the music and lyrics?

Sin:
Dark writes most of the lyrics. The music is done by all of us, Vassago and Dark do some riffs at home and then we put it all together at our rehearsal studio.

Helldusk: What do you know about Russia?

Sin:
That you have lots of car-bombs and stuff like that, hehe.

Helldusk: Have you heard any bands from Russia?

Sin:
I don't think so.

Helldusk: What do you think about Metal Scene nowadays?

Sin:
The scene is quite OK.

Helldusk: What mainly influenced on Lord Belial? What bands? I think Mercyful Fate is one of your favourite bands, am I right? What are your tastes personally?

Sin:
I don't think we have some "main-influence" bands. Yeah, Mercyful Fate is a great band! But I listen to many bands such as Morbid Angel, Emperor, Angelcorpse, Krisiun, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Accept, Exodus, At The Gates, Grotesque, Driller Killer, Skitsystem.... etc...

Helldusk:
Drugs, alcohol?

Sin:
Yes, thanks!

Helldusk: Do you have any videos?

Sin: We have done 2 videos: "Jesus Fails" and "Into the Frozen Shadows", both were made in 1994 and the sound was taken from the demotapes. We also have lots of liverecordings. But none of them are for sale, so there's no idea anyone write and ask for them.

Helldusk: Why the band doesn't use a corpsepaint?

Sin: Why should we? I think it looks just stupid.... we used to have corpsepaint in Vassago, but after we did a videorecording, we realized how stupid it was and we decided to not wear it anymore.

Helldusk: Who are the author of Lord Belial's logo?

Sin:
I have done the logo.

Helldusk: Who are drawing your covers?

Sin:
"Enter The Moonlight Gate" and "Unholy Crusade" was done by Torbjorn Jorgensen (he also do the cover art for King Diamond). The cover for "Kiss The Goat" is so fucking ugly that I don't want to know...

Helldusk: Are the band rehearsing often?

Sin:
We are practise once a week.

Helldusk: What are you planning to do on the next record? When you will record it?

Sin: We don't know yet, but maybe we will record it in spring 2001.

Helldusk: Your final words to our readers?

Sin: Hope to see ya in Moscow soon...
