My Martial Arts Philosophy

For most the image at the topof the page should have been this:

That tends to be the modern way of looking at Martial Arts. For the people uninitiated to the world of martial arts and whose opinion is formed just by the gory Martial arts Movies , this idea is excusable and can be termed as mere susceptibility to the media abuse. However , even if movies form the only source of authentic information for the individual, he can check out some good ones which do not demean the martial arts .For further good movies including classics go here
However my way of viewing martial arts is more as a means of spreading light --and the light can be spread both internally and externally.
Martial Arts is Education in Action
It is a way of finding one's inner self through active meditation. Just as a person sits down to meditate with utmost concentration, the dedicated Martial Artist pursues his Art with one-mindedness and no mindedness to gain inner calm and look into his inner self. There is a Zen saying which says

Meditation in Action is ten thousand times superior than Meditation in Repose

Martial Arts has long been intertwined with Philosophy. The person who took Buddhism to China and later became the Father of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidharma also became the Father of Shaolin Kung Fu
The Ancient Chinese fitness exercises cum Martial Art, Tai Chi Chuan is similarly inseparable from Taoism
Martial Arts also signify Ways of living as well as all that is beautiful. The Japanese Martial Art of Aikido literally translates into The Way of Universal Harmony while the Southern Chinese style Wing Chun means Blossoming Springtime

For a person uninitiated into the world of Computers, a Railway Reservation Booking Clerk may seem equivalent to a Computer Scientist. For someone uninitiated into Mathematics may consider Shop Accountants to be Great Mathematicians. Similarly does one fail to distinguish between a Street Fighter and a Martial ArtistThe aim of Martial Artists is not to win by Violence, but to attain inner peace through perfection of their art and then attain the highest point of physio-mental non-violence through self-restraint in spite of ability to win by violence.

To win by War is the Worst Way
To win by Dominance is the Secondary Way
To win by Love is the Best Way
