Did I say update to come soon? OOPS!!

How did so much time slip by... Guess Christmas had something to do with it somewhere.

We took December off to be with our friends and families, and time flew by. Now that we are getting back into our schedule, things (hopefully) will be more consistent.

Where to start...

First: Bob IS single now. Over the holidays, things came to a head. Seems as if his girlfriend did like the money, but wasn't fond of him. Well I guess things like that happen in the music biz. So ladies, once again, Bob can choose someone that has a nice pair (of eyes), by seeing what you gals might send as a photo of yourselves. The last response was overwhelming!

Send here!

Second: Jim is working out well, and is enjoying playing with the band almost as much as the band enjoys having him. We have done a lot of writing (and re-writing) to give the sound a chance to develop the textures that we wanted when we brought Jim on board. Some of the new songs that are being worked up will have a fuller sound than Davy's sound alone on Theater and Eco-Wars. This also takes a heavy burden from Davy, as he is freer to put in accents and leads that were not playable for the previous recordings.

Third: We want to express regret to those servicemen who have gotten in trouble for playing our stuff on board some of the ships in Afghanistan. Sorry we got you in trouble, but what were ya thinking!!! Playing PIGS so that "the brass" can hear it is not the best move!!! And to play it over "intra ship" probably doesn't endear you to the captain either. We would like to thank all of you guys (and gals) for the support of HELLENKILLER. When we have a final copy of our new release, we will make sure that you folks over there can get it.

Fourth: It is taking longer than we thought to start on production for our release of what we are tentatively calling "Death wish". Several labels approached the band about signing with them, and we thought long and hard before turning them down. For one reason or another the move was not what we feel is the right move at this time, maybe, the right deal will come along to get us to move, maybe not. The label thing is what upset the schedule, but on the bright side, has afforded us the time for the refinements that we wanted the time to do anyway.

Last of all, Jim wanted all of the girls out there to know that he is
"A Shining, Gleaming, Man-god".

I guess I kinda threw out something of what the band has been up to in the last three months.

Until next time!

Well well, this is a long over due update! So much has happened.

We added a second guitar player to the lineup, his name is Jim Williamson. He has been playing with the band about a month and a half at this time. He and Davy have been spending a lot of time combining their sounds and styles to create a cohesive wall of guitar sound that we feel will please our fans out there. It turns out that Jim and Davy went to the same high school, which is amusing to them both. This has both strengthened the sound, and unfortunately, pushed back production schedule of the next release.

We had plans for a "tune up" series of shows, however the destruction in New York, and the subsequent war has cut that short. It might even be that we will finish up the recording before we go out again.

Between gaining a new member, computer crashes, and national tragedies, we have been too busy to do much updating to our pages...
SORRY!

More to come soon!

We have an interview in ATIFAH fanzine that is quite interesting. Someone actually thought to interview US before publishing something about us. I think that it is quite good. To see it go here! Some very interesting things are on the horizon for us, stay tuned for more.

On a personal note, Davy would like to thank all of the fans for their good wishes over the past month.
YOU GUYS RULE!

A hard couple of months for Davy. After being in a car wreck and having 3 people close to him die, he's getting himself back together.

Davy totaled out his car on the way to see some friends. The car stalled while pulling out onto a highway a short distancd from his home. His car came to a stop in the middle of the road at 10:30 at night and was not seen by a driver that "T-boned" him in the drivers door. No one can figure out just how Davy walked away from that! The other car was doing in excess of 60 miles per hour at the time of the impact, and could not stop, nor did it swerve to avoid colission. POW!!

Next Davy lost a member of his family. His father-in-law passed away after an illness that lasted for over 6 months. A week later his best friend's mother died of heart desease (she was almost like a mother to Davy as well). This was Davy's best friend sence middle school. The next week (tues 14) HELLENKILLER lost it's head of security. At this time it appears that Rex died of "sleep apnia". All in all not the best month for the band or especially Davy.

On the bright side, The songs have been written for the new release, and we are waiting for studio time so that we can record them.

FOR ALL OF THE GIRLS THAT ASK IF WE COULD PUBLISH THEIR NUDE PIX ON OUR PAGE, NO, WE CAN'T. BUT WE STILL ENJOY THEM!!!!

Well, well, well, it seems that HELLENKILLER keeps our unbroken record of getting shut down even when we try to be "mellow". How you may ask, well let me explain.

It all started when a friend of mine asked if I would like to play guitar for him at his uncle's party. I told him that sense HELLENKILLER had no shows scheduled, that it might be fun. I then asked Rodney if he wanted to play bass for this jam band, he said sure. We told Shawn and Bob where it was, and that they were invited also.

We were not planning to perform HELLENKILLER because Shawn was still on crutches, but it might be fun to just get out. A few of the younger guests at the party must have recognized us, because before long, we were begged to play a few of our songs. So we did! Shawn on crutches, and Bob on someone else's drum kit.

Now let me tell you about "Uncle". The man must be at least 55, likes country music and moonshine, and has lived under a rock sense 1985, because about half way into our third song, he came flying over to us saying that we had better stop or he would shut off the power and call the cops. Later I found out that he is a Viet Nam vet, and I guess that we must have set him off or something.

We didn't even turn the PA up when we started, but Uncle was heard saying something about us being as loud and obnoxious as mortar fire under a Viet Kong attack! Now the young people that were there seemed to think that we were cool, but Uncle owned the place so...

Well, chalk up another one for the band that can't seem to finish a show!

I came across this online and found some things that need to be set straight.

UK Metal Machine
by James Ellensworth
HELLENKILLER is a band that stands in the face of masses waiting to make rude gestures in the direction of anyone who might irritate them.

While this is so often true, the band does enjoy having their fans around them, talking about music, fast cars, fast women and willing to sign the occasional autograph.

The band has found its share of misfortune along with the success they enjoy in Europe, Asia, and Canada. Among the successes is two CDs with a rather good reception and some well deserved fan fare. Some of the distresses include the drug problems of the first drummer Ken Hasel
[Ken is Rod's brother and I can assure everyone that he has NO drug problems. Family obligations keep him from playing with the band on a steady basis. While he was the first drummer that played with the band that would become HELLENKILLER, and sang almost half of the material of that era, by the time Shaun was hired as the vocalist, Ken had other commitments that took him away from the band. For the record, Ken is on only 3 of the songs on "Theater". The rest of the drumming is Ruben] who recorded all the striking percussion on Theater, the confrontations that lead to the dismissal of Ruben Garcia, tour drummer [As I said, Ruben was the drummer for the Theater session. As far as "confrontations", I don't know what they might be. We still have dialogue with him and are still friends.] for Theater and the near fatal motorcycle accident that nearly took the life of their lead vocalist, Shawn Wolfe.[Well, this is right]

One has to wonder if the band will handle all of the misfortunes and continue on to greater stardom or end up on the musicians scrap yard. With no announcement of the new album and less than a peep[PEEP!] from the band's press agent I begin to have my doubts. I think HELLENKILLER could become a real presence in the music industry, if they travel in the direction they gave in the recent past. They seemed to have been finding a new feel to the music and were coming up with a real grouping of great songs. I for one would like to see the band reach new heights. I would also like to see the tour of Europe be re-scheduled so they can become one of the louder bands out there again and I too can have that dull, aching, ringing in my ears that others have talked about. With the flawless record of being sited for noise or stopped at every show, I imagine I would get the normal ear burning satisfaction of an ear damaging appearance. I hope HELLENKILLER decides to stick it out and continue to surprise and delight the fans. They are a very good band with an odd quality that makes them fun to watch and keep up with.
I would like to thank James for the favorable, if less than totally accurate article. We get requests for interviews and do them via email at:

A long overdue update

Shawn is doing fine after his SECOND corrective surgery to his leg. It's been a long hard road for him, but he is back to spastic insanity (a normal state for Shawn). While his legal team has been doing battle with an insurance company, Shawn has been busy healing.

Rod , Bob, & Davy have been putting music together and have almost a "double album" worth of tunes awaiting lyric. As soon as Shawn can get his concentration back to "band biz", I think that things will move quickly.

Too LateATTENTION GIRLS:Too Late
Bob is now single! YES!! The chance of a lifetime. He is looking for a few hot babes.
Send a hot pic!
Due to the overwhelming response, we are keeping this link here. Keep those pix coming!

For all of you who are wondering, Shawn is doing much better. Being hit by a truck when riding a motorcycle is usually fatal, but fortunatly not in this case! Suffering only a double compound fracture of the tivia and fibula in his left leg, he now has the chance to write more songs.

The band is looking forward to putting the finishing touches on a new release as soon as Shawn is able to lay the vocal tracks.

On another note, you may have noticed that there is a new face on the drums. Bob Hopkins has taken over for the job after Rubin parted company with HELLENKILLER. To put a stop to any rumors, the split was a mutual agreement, and we are still on good terms with him and he with us.
