Inspired by Superman II, he decided to create a race of evolutionary advanced people, beginning with himself. After constructing the evolutionary accelorator, a device that harnessed cosmic rays, he used it to evolve himself a million years ahead of mankind. Naming himself the Ultimate Man he spread his thoughts to the entire population of Earth, promising to shepard them and bring about a golden age. He began demonstrating his enormous power, oblivious to the fact that tampering with nature causes severe repercussions. After Superman stopped a tidal wave Ultimate Man created, he headed towards the Sierra Mountains. Ultimate Man was distraught that his idol intended to hamper his plans, so he created a series of natural disasters to distract the Man of Steel. Ultimate Man subjected himself to another dose of cosmic rays, evolving past the point of being a human. He used his newfound power to teleport Superman into a vortex at the rim of the universe. His newly shaped mind decided that humanity was beneath his contempt, and he would wipe out life on Earth and claim the world as his own. For this feat he would need one more go in the evolutionary accelerator. The machine evolved him past the peak of evolution, transforming him into a near-mindless ape. The trauma of this change caused his body to shut down, and the Ultimate Man passed away.
