Powers: Uhura was a communications expert, and well versed in physics and music history.History: (Who's Who in Star Trek #2) - Uhura was born in Nairobi on Earth, and as she grew up she became recognized for her talents in mathematics. She also had a great love of human culture and biology, working at Lumbuanda Preserve, as well as exploring and documenting the music of human ethnic groups. She continued to excel as a student, learning physics, transporter and communications technology, and applied to Starfleet Academy. After graduation, on stardate 1313.2, she joined the U.S.S. Enterprise as the head communications officer. She was as popular on the Enterprise as she was in school, always eager to meet new people and alien races and learn to understand them. The notoriously difficult to communicate with Mr. Spock grew to be her friend, and said she was the onkly crewmate he'd entrust his prized Vulcan harp to. On stardate 1531.1 an alien shapeshifter invaded the Enterprise, and set his sights on Uhura. He tried to charm her in the guise of an AFrican speaking Swahili, but she saw through his ruse. A viruslike condition from Psi 2000 turned Enterprise helmsman Sulu into a swashbuckler, and he tried to kidnap Uhura under the pretext of protecting her. She informed him that she was not a maiden in need of aid, and Spock used the Vulcan nerve-pinch to put the ill Sulu out of commission. Uhura saved engineer Lt. Kevin Riley from being poisoned. On stardate 3541.4 the Enterprise encountered the Nomad, a sentient spaceprobe. It absorbed Uhura's mind to make sense of her love of music, and found that it could not understand her. The experience left Uhura's mind blasted, and she had to be completely reeducated by sick bay personal Christine Chapel. Her next adventure involved being trapped in the Mirror Universe with the Enterprise crew. The Mirror Universe was a dark and twisted version of our own, and she was forced to deal with evil counterparts of the Enterprise. On stardate 4523.3 Uhura enjoyed a rare shore leave on Space Station K-7. Spock realized she rarely allowed herself recreation because her sense of duty to the Enterprise always came first. On the Enterprise's 5 year journey she also spent time as a gladiator on Triskelion and taught a humanoid who thought he was Abraham Lincoln a thing or two about race relations. AFter the Enterprise's initial mission she still looked to the stars, and joined Captain Kirk on another 5 year trek. When that ended she went planetside with Kirk to train new academy students. After Spock's death during the Genesis Incident, she aided Captain Kirk in retrieving his body, and bringing him back to life.

Uhura, along with the rest of the characters from DC Comics run on Star Trek, were not part of the mainstream DC Universe. To simplify matters, I refer to these characters as inhabiting Earth-Star Trek. Surely, somewhere out there in the 52, there's a Star Trek universe, or there would be if DC still had the rights to make comics about Star Trek.
Uhura received a profile in Who's Who in Star Trek #2, a summary of her television appearances.
