History:  (100 Bullets #50 (fb)) - <1500s> The heads of thirteen prominent families came to an agreement to work with each other when news reached them that the New World contained endless wealth and possibilities. None of them desired to be royalty, they wanted to be powers behind the power, and knew in that way they would last. The coterie, calling themselves the Trust, assembled seven stone-cold killers to be their enforcers, the Minutemen. The Minutemen were also charged with keeping peace among all thirteen families. If any family wronged another the Minutemen would act as judge and jury. They sent demands to the kings and queens of Europe, declaring they would no longer be thorns in their sides as long as they were allowed free reign in the Americas. Queen Elizabeth put her foot down, setting up the colony of Roanoke in Virginia to establish an English presence in the New World. The Minutemen sailed to Roanoke and slaughtered every last man, woman and child, and left behind the word Croatoa, a language only the royals would understand, which simply meant that America belonged to the Trust.

(100 Bullets #68 (fb), 69 (fb), 89 (fb), 91(fb)) - <1962> Agent Walker died, and the Trust needed a replacement. Augustus Medici, who'd just inherited head of his house, and Javier Vasco, who would become head of his once his dying father passed on, support Minuteman Graves for the position. Graves reminded them they would get pushback from the Trust's warlord Mr. Shore, and Augustus told him to feel him out. Graves met with Mr. Shore, Roland Dietrich and Axel Nagel, and gained the spot as the Trust's new Agent, even though Shore was convinced he was responsible for Walker's death. Augustus prodded Javier to have Graves assassinate his father, making him head of his house, and Javier immediately regretted the act after it was done. Augustus wanted him to celebrate with Graves, saying the old guard was gone, and their new Trust would be something better.

(100 Bullets #5) - The Minutemen took care of Roland Dietrich, covering him in gasoline and lighting a match. Graves planned this event to disband the Minutemen when the Trust approached him with a power play that would consolidate their control over the country. The Trust wanted the Minutemen gone, but Graves wanted them to view the Minutemen as having gone rogue. Afterwards he programmed the Minutemen, making them forget their lives, and giving them new one Years later Agent Graves resurfaced, playing his game and sending a nobody whose life Megan Dietrich ruined to kill her. She survived, and informed Augustus, who was furious that one of the Minutemen still lived.

(100 Bullets #23, 24) - Augustus Medici called a meeting of the Trust in Atlantic City after learning from Mr. Shepherd that in addition to Agent Graves, Cole Burns of the Minutemen was still alive. Benito Medici met with Megan Dietrich, and she told him to stop trying to act like Shepherd and looking at him like a father figure. She said he wasn't cut out to be a tough guy, and he was better off learning from Augustus than one of his soldiers. They met Daniel Peres at the pool, and Peres worried that Benito didn't appreciate the vision of his father. Benito asked him why Augustus tried to eliminate the Minutemen, and Peres said it was for the good of the Trust and advancing their success and money gains. Augustus arrived with bodyguard Crete, and greeted his son. The previous day Benito played a private card game, and was almost beaten by Hank Kowalski, who desperately needed the money, but raised the stakes far beyond what he could play, forcing him to fold his hand, which was probably a winner. Hank was stalking Benito, and Cole Burns was observing him, happily telling him Benito's room number. Benito played poker at the casino, and Megan was annoyed that he wasn't paying attention to her; telling him he was off his game. Mia Simone arrived, and took Peres, Benito and Megan out to dinner. August partied with a prostitute, and couldn't help but brag about the power he wielded. Mister Shepherd contacted Benito for a private meeting.

(100 Bullets #25) - Once the 13 families arrived Augustus began the meeting, reminding everyone of how the Minutemen was created to keep them in check, to make sure no family turned against the other. He said they once they started trusting each other the Minutemen became obsolete, and an impediment to their success. Javier Vasco felt the Minutemen had been necessary, and Augustus knew he felt that way because the group once settled a bloody dispute between his family and that of Axe Nagal, but assured him they were no longer needed. He denied that Graves and any other surviving Minutemen were a threat, and Daniel Peres told him Graves would come after him first because they'd once been close friends. Peres got a call, and said he had urgent business to attend to, but since he insisted on leaving the meeting Augustus told Megan Dietrich to accompany him. She complied, but left him when she saw Benito Medici on a gambling binge. Hank Kowalski was waiting for Benito in his room with a gun, demanding the money he felt was stolen from him. Benito said the house had his money, and was allowed to retrieve it while Hank kept Megan hostage. Benito upset Megan by telling Hank to shoot her if he saw him try anything funny. He got the money and said Hank could take it, or gamble $100,000 of Benito's money on the upcoming Pacers gang. Hank went with the gambling option and left. Megan thought he'd manipulated Hank since Benito's favorite was the Lakers in order to utterly destroy him. Benito disappointed her by saying he was betting oin the Lakers for Hank so he could get the money he needed. Peres' threat was given at the command of Agent Graves, who wanted to make sure he did as promised. Graves introduced him to Cole, thanked him, and then stabbed him to death.

(100 Bullets #41) - Javier Vasco, Helena Kotis and Fulvio Carlito, heads of their respective families in the Trust, brokered a meeting with Agent Graves through Mr. Shepherd. They met at the Seattle Space Needle, and Javier wondered what their bright lights looked like to the people below, and decided the little people's lives were filled with big dreams but even bigger disappointments. The families made it clear to Graves that the elimination of the Minutemen was nothing personal, although he disagreed, and they said they were in a position to give him what he wanted most. Augustus had promised that the elimination of the Minutemen would elad to even greater success for the Trust, but things were getting hairy without the Minutemen as peacekeepers. After Peres' assassination his family was removed from the Trust, and his assets were parsed out among the remaining families, despite Javier's objections. They disliked there being only 12 families, because an even number meant no deciding vote, so one more family had to go, and the Medicis were becoming too powerful. They intended to eliminate Augustus, and asked Graves to pick up the pieces afterwards, promising to reinstate the Minutemen. They made it clear they would rule the nation no matter what Graves did, but he could be part of their vision of the future.

(100 Bullets #60-63) - Mr. Branch was summoned back to America by Megan Dietrich, and she tried to impress him with the first-class hotel room they were staying in, the Delano. Branch said high class joints made his skin crawl, and Megan told him they'd meet after she spent some time down by the pool. Megan was relaxing when Cole Burns swam up to her. She warned him about trying to take her out in public, and he assured her that while he could, he had no intention of doing do, and warned her her life was in danger. Benito and Augustus bet on a game of tennis, and when Benito lost his temper flared and he wanted to go double or nothing. Augustus said his game was decent but his instincts were poor. Crete informed them that Megan had arrived, and Augustus told his son to get ready for business. Crete drove them to the Calder stakes, where Augustus had a horse in the race. Benito wanted to gamble on the race, and Augustus growled that he better not think about betting against his horse. Benito went to place his bet, and Graves showed up in the stable. Benito went to see Megan, and she was impressed that he'd finally opened his eyes as to what his father could make him, so she invited him out for drinks at a haute nightclub. Benito still wanted to know why she was in town, and Megan said some houses were not happy with the restructuring of the Trust. The Trust also feared war with the Minuteman after the deaths of Daniel Peres, Anwar Madrid, and Mr. Shepherd. They went to Augustus', where he cooked them dinner. Megan suspected Javier Vasco of conspiring with Graves, because he feared the rise of the Medici house, and revealed that Cole Burns had given her a cryptic warning about other houses moving against the Medicis. Benito thought Cole couldn't be trusted, and had a feeling they were being played. Megan agreed, but said she still knew who her enemies were, and they had to find out which one was trying to manipulate them for their own ends. Megan said her house would stand with the Medicis, and Augustus had a few final plans to make with her, but asked Benito to leave. He told Benito he was not ready to be involved in a civil war, so he would stay out of it. Benito was angry, but acquiesced. Megan never got to meet with Branch, because Cole had recruited him to go to Europe and find Megan's painting. Augustus met with Graves, who reminded him that if they carried out their plan, there was no turning back.

(100 Bullets #68, 69) - Javier Vasco met Axel in the elevator, telling him the beginning of the end had begun for Medici's power play. Nagel regretted that he'd backed the right horse in Medici, but wouldn't be around to see him unite the Trust. Javier said that wasn't happening, and gave Axel poison to swallow, reminding him that what he did best was make everyone's lives easier. He promised he'd keep the house of Nagel alive, and Axel swallowed the poison and died. Megan recovered from her gunshot wound, inflicted by Victor Ray, and Augustus visited her, saying it seemed she'd completely lost her confidence. He told her there would be a summit, but to keep the peace she wouldn't breathe a word about her assassination attempt, or seek vengeance. She found it a hard pill to swallow, but agreed. Augustus told her to wear her wound like a badge of honor, and they made passionate love.

(100 Bullets #70, 71) - The Trust attended the funeral of Axel Nagel, and his children Anna and Lars were none too happy that the house of Nagel was to be absorbed by the rest of the Trust.Mia Simone told them not to fret, because they'd always be rich, and the politics of running a family in the Trust had a way of getting to people. Augustus, accompanied by Lono, said he regretted the death of Fulvio Carlito, but he knew the Trust had enemies within. He said he would forgive the past if the conspirators stopped, and told them they had to stick together to survive Agent Graves. He decided the house of Nagel would stand, and told Anna and Lars to decided between themselves who would lead it. Anna got ready to go clubbing, and told her brother to decide which one of them should be in charge. She reminded him that even though they were twins she was five minutes younger and much more experienced in the ways of the world, but promised nothing about their extremely close relationship would change. The next day Lono met with Augustus, Dietrich and Crete, saying the Trust no longer saw him as a threat, so they'd averted a civil war. Megan questioned his loyalty, and demanded he hold his gun to his head since he worked for her. He complied, but grabbed her so that if he shot the bullet would kill them both, and described in graphic detail how he could have easily killed off every member of the Trust during their meeting.

(100 Bullets #72-74) - Lars drowned his sorrows in a private room, and Vasco and Vermeer joined him. They told him he had to start thinking like a member of the Trust, and said he was right not to trust his sister saying she didn't care who ran the House of Nagel. Vasco got him a scotch, his father's favorite drink. Anna was waylaid by her father's friend Otto, shoved into a car and met by Lono. They drove past the club El Quijole to see the tail-end of Lars meeting with Vasco and Vermeer, and Anna was none too happy to see her brother talking to heads of the Trust without her. Lono had her driven home, after telling her that Vasco had her father killed and insinuating that Lars was plotting against her with him, and she waited for her brother to return. She gave him a poisoned drink, and was shocked to learn he'd turned down Vasco's offer to run the house of Nagel, preferring to put his trust in his sister. She told him to put his drink down, but it was too late to save his life. In despair she spiked her own drink and committed suicide. The Trust voted to absorb the house of Nagel, and Megan told Augustus he'd gotten just what he wanted.

(100 Bullets #85) - Crete trained in the gym with Benito, and told him he was not acting like the heir to the house of Medici. He'd guessed that Benito ran away because of a woman, and told him to tell Augustus, saying he'd understand. Augustus prepared a lamb roast for Benito and Megan, hoping Benito would remember a fond childhood activity, but he was distant and abrasive. Megan and Augustus were planning to be married, and he sniped at her while she fired back at him for being immature and feeling threatened. Benito harped on taking the Minutemen more seriously after the fall of the house of Rhone and said they needed to be meaner than their former protectors.

(100 Bullets #86) - After Sigmar Rhone's death Constance went to visit Helena in Aspen, and they both shared fond memories of Sigmar being their lover. They went clothes shopping, only to be ambushed by Victor Ray in the dressing room, and he gunned them down.

(100 Bullets #90) - Benito spied on his father and Megan in bed, and when Megan awoke she closed the door on him. Benito met with Lono, sayimng he wanted to celebrate his father's upcoming marriage with something special, bringing him one of the Minutemen. Lono asked alive or dead, and Benito said one alive and one dead. Lono reminded him not to treat him like hired help or he'd regret it, as Benito hadn't paid for his loyalty.

(100 Bullets #91, 92) - Former Minuteman Will Slaughter killed Mr. Rothstein, a man with connections to the CIA and FBI that supplied Graves with his attaches of 100 untraceable bullets. Slaughter informed D'arcy that Graves game was over, and they'd see how he'd react. Augustus was furious, and called Javier, suspecting him of the hit. Javier said he was happy to see Graves' power taken away, but he wasn't the one responsible.

(100 Bullets #93, 94, 96) - Graves arranged a meeting with Javier Vasco, and Lono and Augustus planned on attending as well. Remi called Graves saying he was shadowing D'arcy's safehouse, waiting for her to emerge and kill her, but he soon got a call from his aunt saying his mom had a heart attack. He panicked and said he was on his way, deciding to storm the front of D'arcy's safehouse. He slaughtered her security, and she fled inside with her bodyguard Coop. Remi shot them both, but Coop was hooked up to an oxygen tank, which exploded, and Remi's hands were blasted off. Augustus found Graves choking Javier in his compound and made him stop. Javier again denied responsibility for Rothstein's death, and they discussed the old days and their alliance to change the Trust and it's old ways. Graves revealed that Javier offered to reinstate the Minutemen if Graves didn't interfere in his hit on Augustus, but that isn't ehy Graves helped stop it. Javier knew Augustus had no use for him anymore, and said that's why he was still alive. They bemoaned the new Trust being the same old same old and agreed that the Minutemen helped the Trust because conflict was their lifeblood. Only the heads of the Trust and Graves knew about Rothstein, so it had to be an inside job. Dizzy and Lono chatted outside, and Lono told her he was with Shepherd when he died, and his last words were say it wasn't Dizzy's fault. Dizzy said she still blamed herself, and Lono said he blamed her too, picking her up by her throat. They had a fierce battle, and Lono grabbed a gun from one of Javier's guards. Lono gunned down Javier's men and grazed Diz in the head with a bullet. He bound her, put her in a car and drove off, calling Graves soon afterward to tell her he had his girl. Graves reminded him he was with Augustus and could easily kill him if Lono harmed her, but Lono said he didn't care because he was with Benito Medici now. Lono called Loop, and was shocked when Cole answered, and Cole promised to come for him. Lono called Graves back and said he still wanted revenge for shepherd, and Graves said Shepherd's death was his own fault. He was supposed to finish Dizzy's training as a Minuteman, and if Graveshad been the one to activate her by saying 'Croatoa' he'd still be alive. He told Lono he had a triggerword that could calm him down and make him much less violent and unpredictable. Lono called him a liar, and Graves said he'd already given him the trigger. Lono hung up, and Augustus was devastated at the idea of his son working with Lono. Lono delivered Dizzy to Benito, but he became furious when he saw the battered and bloody Dizzy and shot Lono in the face.

(100 Bullets #97-100) - The injured Lono fled, and Crete organized his men to find him, while Benito tended to Dizzy's wounds. Lono ran from the Medici compound, and suffered several dog bites, but made it over the wall and to freedom. Augustus told Graves he was done with his master plan, but Graves disagreed and would not be swayed when Augustus told him he should be happy the Minutemen were reinstated. They discussed meeting with Megan, Tibo and d'arcy, the remaining heads of the Trust. The remaining heads were having their own meeting, and Megan told them how Augustus had been the one to orchestrate the assassination of the heads of houses and the houses absorption into his and Javier's domain. D'arcy had her man will slaughter kill Javier with a sniper rifle, and Augustus was even more apprehensive about brokering peace in the Trust. Megan, Tibo and D'arcy arrived at the Medici compound, and Benito said he wasn't going to be in on the meeting on his father's orders. He checked in on Dizzy to see how she was recuperating, and she said she wished his aim was better, because Lono being alive worried her. Word spread to the Minutemen that the war against the Trust was over, but that didn't sit well with Victor. Victor, Jack, Cole and Loop buried Echo in the swamp, with the Trust's painting wrapped around her body, and decided to crash the Trust's meeting, and Lono had the same idea. The Trust took Augustus' vote away, so he resigned as head of his family, giving it to Benito. The Trust demanded Graves step down as head of the Minutemen, but said he could pick his replacement. He balked, but came around when they offere dhim the former house of Vasco and a membership in the Trust. Benito relaxed in the pool and was approached by Megan, who said her engagement with Augustus was off, and tried to seduce him. Megan strangled Benito to death, and when Crete found his body Graves named Dizzy as the new head of the Minutemen and told her to investigate. The Minutemen stormed the compound, killing dozens of security. Jack Daw and Crete fought, with the battle spilling over into Augustus' alligator pond. Cole stabbed Tibo and strangled D'arcy to death, filled a room with gasoline, and waited for Megan. Lono ambushed Graves, but Dizzy shot him a number of times, and he fell out the window. Graves talked to Augustus, realizing he planned for the Trust to murder his son and Dizzy to kill the other heads so the only ones standing would be him and Graves. Graves shot Augustus dead, and the shot surprised Cole, who dropped his lighter, blowing up both himself and Megan. Dizzy said Graves moved against another member of the Trust and pulled her gun. Graves said Augustus was the one who ruined his life, compromising his principles, but allowing him to pass those principles on to others, and he pointed Dizzy's gun at his own head.
