Scorpion fought the Lin Kuei, but they had already killed his beloved wife and son. Sub-Zero killed Scorpion, ripping his head off his body. Scorpion was resurrected by Quan Chi, becoming a revenant, and got his vengeance by slaying Sub-Zero.
(Mortal Kombat X #16 (fb)) - Shao Kahn organized a kombat tournament, where the loser of each fight would be killed by the winner. Kuai Liang took the identity of Sub-Zero to avenge his brother's death at Scorpion's hands.
(Mortal Kombat X #16 (fb)) - Cyborgs took over the Lin Kuei, and forcibly turned Sub-Zero into one of them after dismantling the clan. Sub-Zero's soul entered Neatherrealm after dying in kombat with Sindel, and Quan Chi received him, stripping him of his cybernetic components and turning him into a revenant. During the Neatherrealm war Quan Chi and his servants clashed with Raiden and Sonya Blade. Raiden won the day, and restored Sub-Zero to life. Sub-Zero couldn't deal with the guilt over the atrocities he'd committed as Quan Chi's thrall, but Raiden assured him he'd make amends.
(Mortal Kombat X #1, 9 (fb)) - Lord Raiden sent Sub-Zero to a Red Dragon temple to steal a mystic dagger enchanted with the Curse of the Kamidogu. He wrecked havoc, and forced a Red Dragon to take him to the weapon, but Kano had used the chaos to steal it himself. He told Sub-Zero that Raiden ahd lied to him, and he would tell him the truth about the curse. He stabbed Sub-Zero and told him whoever the dagger drew blood from would be possessed by it. The curse could only be lifted by death, but Sub-Zero said he;'d died once and wasn't about to die again. He ripped out Kano's cybernetic eye and fled.
(Mortal Kombat X #11) - The Kamidogu served as a key to open up the dimension where Raiden had banished Shinnok, and he'd entrusted each one to a champion. A demon corrupted the blood magik and possessed Sub-Zero, and Raiden knew he'd have to save Sub-Zero from the curse or kill him.
(Mortal Kombat X #13-16) - Scorpion and Takeda tracked down Sub-Zero finding an entire city covered in ice. Sub-Zero was fully in thrall to the Kamidogu, and Scorpion felt the hellfire well within him. Hevik watched on, using entrails to view the combat, and bragged to himself that he would soon have the Kamidogu and Scorpion's soul. Scorpion and Sub-Zero engaged in bloody combat, and Takeda managed to steal the Kamidogu as sub-Zero's blood magik began to run out. Sub-Zero was no longer possessed, and tried to back of the fight, but Scorpion continued to brutalize him. He unleashed a burst of hellfire, and Takeda grabbed him, begging him to not give into a life fueled by revenge, reminding him that they had to save the world and rebuild the Shirai Ryu. Scorpion knew he was losing himself, and walked away, confident that Sub-Zero was fatally wounded, and would only live long enough to reflect on his mistakes. Sub-Zero lay dying when he was greeted by the god Bo' Rai Cho, who dissuaded him from committing hara-kiri, saying wine was a better cure for melancholy. He told Sub-Zero that Raiden owed him for retrieving the Kamidogu, and he would take him to Raiden.
