History: (Mortal Kombat X #23 (fb)) - Sonya and Johnny helped Raiden banish Shinnok, and Sonya was amazed at seeing how selfless Johnny had become. They had a one night stand, and Sonya got pregnant.. Their daughter Cassie Cage was born, and they formed a solid domestic partnership, but Sonya had little time to spend with her daughter due to her work with Special Forrces. Sonya had Kenshi Takahashi infiltrate the Red Dragon, and when his cover was blown she had to extract him. During the extraction she killed a Pakistani terrorist whose daughter was with her, and she realized that her dedication to military affairs over motherhood was problematical.
(Mortal Kombat X #16 (fb)) - During the Neatherrealm war Quan Chi and his servants clashed with Raiden and Sonya Blade. Raiden won the day, and restored Sub-Zero to life. Sub-Zero couldn't deal with the guilt over the atrocities he'd committed as Quan Chi's thrall, but Raiden assured him he'd make amends
(Mortal Kombat X #4, 5) - Sonya and Johnny Cage's different parenting styles led the spoiled Cassie to idolize her indulging father and hate her authoritative mother, leading to her frequently running away. Special Forces captured Outworld Emperor Kotal Kahn and his allies D'Vorah and Erron Black, who'd traveled to Earthrealm. Kahn told Sonya that Outworld had been ravaged by his enemy Mileena, and she'd come to Earthrealm, which he promised would suffer the same fate. Sonya didn't trust him, and was attacked by D'Vorah, who she fended off. Kahn broke his bonds and said hey had to work together to save Earthrealm. Raiden appeared, breaking up the fight, Kotal and his allies returned to Outworld, and Raiden told Sonya they needed to find Cassie Cage, whose role would be instrumental in coming events he saw in a vision. Black Dragons had kidnapped her and taken her to Outworld. Sonya vowed to track her down with Special Forces.
(Mortal Kombat X #8, 9, 12, 13) - Sonya and her team traveled to Outworld, witnessing Kotal Khan dismember Goro in his quest to eliminate the deposed empress Mileena. The blood code he used to boost his power left him drained, and Sonya shot him, demanding to know where her daughter was. Kotal promised that, as someone who lost his family, he would never kidnap someone's children. Evidence pointed to Erron Black, who was the intermediary between Kotal Kahn and the Black Dragon, and Kotal Kahn agreed to take care of business. They found Erron Black badly wounded after a confrontation with the Red Dragon clan. They'd taken the women to Shang Tsung's island to meet with Reiko and Havik, who made sure Erron was alive to tell Johnny and Sonya they were invited. Cage and Sonya turned Erron Black over to Kotal, and he told Erron he was lucky he hadn't killed him already for nearly starting a war with Earthrealm, ording him to the dungeons. Kotal told Cage and Sonya he would ensure them safe passage to Shang Tsung's island, but first he had to assemble his troops, because Goro's father King Gorbak had sworn vengeance for Kotal mutilating his son, and had sent a horde of Shokan against Kotal.
(Mortal Kombat X #14, 15, 17-21) - Kotal, Cage and Sonya made battle plans for defending the city. Kotal admitted he did not know the size of the Shokan army, but if the odds were overwhelming he would challenge their champion to Kombat. D'vorah spotted their army approaching, and although their numbers were few they marched with the Oni Warlords. Kotal sent D'Vorah, Ferra and Torr out as diplomats to meet with Kintaro, offering to pay reparations for crippling Goro. Kintaro showed them no respect, and demanded their absolute surrender. D'Vorah replied that Kotal would never submit, so the Shokan attacked the city walls. Sonya and Johnny Cage engaged in combat with the Shokan, and the Special Forces suffered heavy losses. Kotal could not stay on the backlines, and when D'vorah, Ferra and Torr came to see him they found he'd bled himself using blood magik and went to the front lines. After hours of bloody warfare Kotal Kahn confronted King Gorbak, killing him by exploding his head. The Shokan retreated, but Kotal knew they'd be back. Kotal told D'vorah to accompany Cage and Sonya to Shang Tsung's island so he could fulfill his debt. He found his dagger missing, so he could no longer call on blood magik in his battle with the Shokan. The dagger was stolen by Skarlet, one of Reiko's servants. Johnny had been badly wounded, and Sonya tended to him. He was surprised she could still be tender towards him, and assured her Cassie's rebelliousness was just a phase. Kotal allied himself with Kano and the Black Dragon to fend off another Shokan siege led by Kintaro. Sonya worried about Kano's involvement, but Johnny told her they could no longer concern themselves with the politics of Outworld, and needed to get their daughter home safe. Kotal was victorious, and the Shokan agreed to a truce to battle together against Mileena. The Black Dragon demanded their payment, and Kotal told Kano he had repaid a debt for almost causing war between Earthrealm and Outworld when he kidnapped Cassie Cage. Kano threatened to take the sacred portalstone as his payment, and the offended Kotal struck him down, ordering his retinue to send the Black Dragon to the dungeon. Kotal told Sonya and Johnny he'd hand Kano over to them for justice on Earthrealm after they rescued Cassie together.
(Mortal Kombat X #22-24) - Kotal Kahn's slaves loaded up his ship that would sail for Shang Tsung's island. Sonya showed Johnny that he was bringing Black Dragon WMDs aboard the ship, and questioned his goals. Kotal Kahn approached them, and they played dumb, allowing him to escort them to their cabin. Sonya and Cage shared a cabin, discussing why their relationship didn't work out. Sonya admitted that she felt guilty putting her duty with the Special Forces ahead of being a parent. Reiko confronted them, presenting Cassie and Jacqui, who were under the control of his blood code.
