As a Green Lantern, Sodam Yat wielded a power ring fueled by willpower and capable of doing almost anything he could imagine as long as it was recharged by his emerald power battery once every 24 hours. Examples of its' powers include flight, phasing, creating giant objects formed of energy, and force fields. As Ion Sodam Yat's Green Lantern's powers were increased a hundredfold and he could alter reality.
History:
(Green Lantern Corps II #14) - The Sinestro Corps took out a sector house in 2263, so Kilowog rallied Sodam and the other Corps members on Oa, telling them they were going to take the fight to the Sinestro soldiers. Salakk took Arisia aside and asked her to keep close to Sodam Yat and watch his back. She asked if there was something special about him, and Salakk told her to just follow orders and one day she might get her answer.
(Green Lantern Corps II #15) - The sentient planet Sinestro Corps soldier Ranx attacked Mogo, knowing the Corps would not long survive without Mogo to direct power rings to worthy recipients and to mentally train new recruits. Killowog and the Lanterns under his command, including Arisia, arrived and rallied behind Mogo, but Sinestro Corps drill sergeant Arkillo beat them back with his soldiers. Despite the GLC’s efforts Ranx ripped a hole in Mogo’s surface and sent in the Children of the White Lobe, the Sinestro Corps latest allies, so they could explode and destroy the power ring at Mogo’s core. Killowog sent corpsmen Yat, Kol, Stel and Chthatis off to Ranx to destroy the planet’s brain. Arisia wanted to follow Salakk’s orders and stay with Yat, but Killowog overruled her.
(Green Lantern Corps II #16, Green Lantern IV #23) - Sodam Yat showed natural leadership skills in leading his fellow Lanterns in their assault on Ranx. Arisia disobeyed orders to stay close to Yat, and while he implied that she couldn’t stay away because she was attracted to him, she promised she was only following orders and that he was no Hal Jordan. The Guardians contacted Yat, and asked him to withdraw from battle, revealing that the prophecy of the Blackest Night named him as their salvation in their darkest hour. Yat refused to abandon his fellow corpsmen. The Guardians foresaw the Blackest Night prophecy coming to pass with the rise of the Sinestro Corps, and did the unthinkable, rewriting the Book of Oa. The first of their ten new laws stated that the Corps power rings were authorized to use lethal force against the Sinestro Corps, and they announced this law to the GLC. Yat tore into the Sinestro Corps soldiers, killing several, including Enkafos. He managed to destroy Ranx’ brain, and even though he was unsure if he would survive he blew up the sentient planet. The battle for Mogo was won by the GLC, and Sodam Yat emerged from the ashes of Ranx, bruised and bloody, but quite cocky and ready for his next assignment.
(Green Lantern IV #24, Green Lantern Corps II #17, Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman-Prime #1) - Sodam and the GLC arrived on Earth to fend off the Sinestro Corps invasion of the planet. Yat and his fellow Corpsmen fended off an attack on Mount Rushmore, and dozens of Sinestro Corps soldiers were slaughtered. The GLC were then sent to NYC, where the Anti-Monitor had arrived on Earth. Earth’s yellow sun greatly empowered Sodam Yat, but despite his headstrong attacks on the Anti-Monitor he got nowhere and was nearly killed. The Guardians knew that the Sinestro Corps were targeting Earth in order to take control of the 52, the known multiverse whose fate rested on Earth. They were not prepared to imbue a Lantern with the powers of Ion, but times were desperate, so they arrived on Earth and chose Yat as their champion, the new Ion and torch-bearer. Sinestro pitted Superman-Prime against Ion.
(Green Lantern IV #25) - Sodam Yat survived his battle with Prime, and while the Sinestro Corps War raged on Earth the GLC and an army of superheroes battled the Corps the Anti-Monitor prepared to unleash an anti-matter wave to destroy Earth. With Earth’s destruction, the entire 52 would fall, and he would once again rule all that was. The GLC ruptured the heart of Anti-Monitor’s Warworld, the Sinestro Corps central power battery, and created a shield around Warworld and the Monitor. The ensuing blast nearly destroyed the Anti-Monitor, and he was finished off by Superman-Prime, who betrayed him for having destroyed his home, Earth-Prime. GL Hal Jordan defeated Sinestro in personal combat, and the Sinestro Corps, lacking any leadership, fled Earth. The heroes rejoiced and began rebuilding the damage the Sinestro Corps did.
