(Adventure Comics I #41) - Socko served as the chief's bodyguard, while Jerry used his free time to woo the chief's daughter Bera. Nogoodi, the chief's former bodyguard, attacked Jerry, seeing Beri as belonging to him. Jerry cried to Socko for help, and he made short work of the brute. The chief announced that Socko had proved worthy of marrying his daughter. Socko wasn't interested in marriage, so the chief locked him and Jerry up until Socko changed his mind. They met the prisoner Sedburn, an aviator who crashed on the island several years ago. They were taken to the ocean's edge for the witch doctor to perform a death ceremony since Strong wouldn't marry. Beri had found a washed up movie projector and given it to Socko, and Socko used it to pretend he knew more magic than the witch doctor. They put distance between themselves and the natives, and when they sighted a ship at anchor nearby they built a raft to meet it. It appeared deserted even though they heard strange moaning sounds, and realized the ship was the legendary Flying Dutchman.

(Adventure Comics I #42) - The Dutchman turned out not to be a ghost ship, but the vessel of Sir Charles Starwin. He was searching for prehistoric life, and had his ship made into a replica of the Dutchman to keep anyone from disturbing his work. He introduced Socko to Bennie, a prehistoric man he'd discovered on an uncharted island. His crew feared Bennie, and abandoned their posts, so Socko and Jerry agreed to get him back to the island where ancient life lived. On reaching the island they freed Benny, but Jerry's clumsiness soon roused dinosaurs, and they were trapped in a cave by a T-rex. Just as they caught their breath a stegosaurus emerged from the cave.
