SLIPKNOT

Real Name: Christopher Weiss

Class: Human technology-user

Occupation: Professional criminal

Group Affiliation: formerly 2000 Committee, Suicide Squad

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Liberty Hill, formerly Opal City

First Appearance: Fury of Firestorm #28 (October, 1984)

Powers: Slipknot used ropes coated with a powerful adhesive of his own design to make them stronger than titanium steel. These ropes were used to either bind or strangle opponents.

History: Slipknot decided to become a criminal after designing the adhesive he uses on his ropes while working for a chemical company in the southern U.S. He joined the 2000 Committee and was sent to kill Firestorm, but failed miserably.

Slipknot was released from prison to work with the Suicide Squad. On a mission against the Manhunters he lost his nerve and ran, resulting in the explosive bracelet all criminal members of the Squad were forced to wear going off, blowing his arm off.

(Identity Crisis #4) - Slipknot was caught shoplifting and sent to Opal City Penitentiary. While in prison he became a devotee of Kobra. Green Arrow and Wonder Woman questioned him about the death of Sue Dibny, and determined that he was not involved.

(Titans II #30-32) - Deathstroke kidnapped Slipknot and put him in restraints. Deathstroke had made promises to all the members of his Titans, and he promised the Tattooed Man he’d have vengeance on the man who killed his son. Deathstroke told Tattooed Man to take his revenge, and directed him to one of the levels of the Labyrinth where Slipknot was. By the time he arrived Slipknot was no longer in captivity; Deathstroke knew he’d never forgive himself if he killed a defenseless man. The Titans asked Deathstroke what he’d do if Slipknot killed him, and he said he’d offer him a job. Tattooed Man and Slipknot fought, and the Labyrinth read Tattooed Man’s thoughts and conjured up a hologram of Liberty Hill, where his son was killed, and where he vowed never to return until Slipknot was dead. Slipknot taunted him, claiming his sons death was the price he paid for killing Slipknot’s partner Canon, and scowling that he was too “heroic” to kill him. Tattooed Man used a barbed wire tattoo to rip off Slipknot’s head, but with his vengeance complete he still didn’t feel like a hero.
