SIN EATER

Real Name: Onimar Synn

Class: Devil

Occupation: Soul eater, devil

Group Affiliation: Seven Devils

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Thanagar

First Appearance: JSA #23 (June, 2001)

Powers: The Sin Eater gained strength from the suffering and faults he found in the souls of sentients, and he could devour souls to increase his power . He was immortal, able to construct bodies for himself from various materials and animate them with his lifeforce. He could raise the dead and control corpses animated in this manner. He could tap into Nth Metal to gain control over the four fundamental forces of the universe (strong, weak, gravitational and electromagnetic).

History: (JSA #23, 25 (fb, BTS)) - <millennia ago> The Sin Eater claimed to be one of the Seven Devils of Thanagarian mythology that plagued that planet since its birth. He was imprisoned in a vault of Nth Metal by the hero Kalmoran, but vowed that he would one day return.

(JSA #23 (fb, BTS)) - While Thanagar recovered from a costly war they waged against the Tormocks, the Sin Eater reemerged, killing thousands, raising an undead army of Dark Wingmen and enslaving Thanagar.

(JSA #23-25) - A Thanagarian resistance movement brought Hawkgirl II to Thanagar so she could resurrect Hawkman I to fight the Sin Eater. The resurrection was successful, and Sin Eater wasted no time in sending his Dark Wingmen to battle Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and her JSA teammates that had followed them to Thanagar. Sin Eater joined his troops, defeated the JSA and imprisoned them. He feared Hawkman and Hawkgirl would be seen as martyrs after their death, so he chose a inglorious end for them, pushing them off the edge of his headquarters, the floating city of Thalrassa. The pair survived the fall, and the JSA escaped imprisonment, but Sin built a body composed entirely of Nth Metal so that he could destroy the heroes. He was defeated when Hawkman and Hawkgirl embraced in love, the passion of their souls was anathema to Sin; his Nth metal body crumbled and he seemingly perished.
