Powers: Shorty was an average child with no exceptional abilities.History: (Leading Comics #3) - Shorty argued with a shipmate over the existence of mermaids. After changing into his swimming trunks and scouting around Shorty had to concede that he'd spotted nary a mermaid.
(Superman I #20)- Shorty served as a sailor, and when a crew mate told him to throw excess water over his shoulder he ended up splashing the captain.
(Superman I #50) - Shorty mocked a circus magician for being a phony until the magician stole his pants while pretending to do a card trick.
(Showcase #6) - Shorty and his pal were exploring Egyptian archaeological sites when the desert heat got to be too much for them. Shorty stood in his friend's shade to cool down, but was too short to cast much shade of his own when it was his friend's turn.
(Action Comics I #231) - Shorty went to the swimming hole and jumped in after seeing a youth waist deep, but had to be pulled out and saved from drowning because the youth was tall for his age and Shorty was short.
(Adventure Comics I #251) - Shorty went umbrella shopping, but frustrated the salesman when he decided he didn't need one when it stopped raining outside.
(Showcase #11) - During "Be Kind to Animals" week Shorty was bitten by a dog, and had a zoo monkey fling waste at him, so he decided to put on a sign saying "Be Kind to Humans Week."
(Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #30) - Shorty planned a picnic with the children he was watching, but when it rained he decided to be inventive, using a movie projector to put images of the park in their living room while having sandwiches.
(Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #31) - Shorty applied for a job at a store, but after the boss listed an unreasonable number of responsibilities he walked away, snidely responding that he wouldn’t have enough to do at the job.
(Challengers of the Unknown I #9) - Shorty was in a science lab working on an atomic gunpowder experiment when a maintenance man hung up a 'No Smoking' sign and blew up the lab because he was smoking.
(Challengers of the Unknown I #21) - Shorty was on a space mission, but promised his girl he'd write, so he started attaching parachutes to letters and tossing them from the spacecraft.
(Sea Devils #4) - Shorty and a pal went on a cruise, but were shipwrecked. Rescuers arrived, but Shorty wasn’t sure he wanted to go with them because he’d learned he got sea-sick easily.
(Sea Devils #18) - Shorty served as a sailor and spent his time blowing bubbles through a pipe. His commanding officer was furious, and ordered him back to his gun turret station. Shorty blew bubbles through the turret, and when reassigned to the engine room he continued his shenanigans, causing his C.O. to give up.
