History: (Kamandi #3) - The Rock-Buster was a silica-based lifeform native to Earth's moon. The Apollo 20 mission brought its egg to Earth, and it was stored in a Nevada NASA museum. During the period of its storage the Great Disaster occurred, deevolving most of humanity into feral savages, and allowing animals to involve intelligence. The Rock-Buster hatched and wrecked havoc in its now underground lair, killing members of the Gorilla-Men that scavenged and excavated the area. Ben Boxer and Renzi, human mutants and descendants of NASA scientists, explored the site to get clues to their own origins. The Rock-Buster instinctively attacked them, and they chased each other through the tunnels when they met up with Kamandi, the last boy on Earth who was fleeing his gorilla captor Chaaku. Chaaku and the Rock-Buster engaged in mortal combat, resulting in both their deaths as the underground tunnels collapsed around them.
