History: (Green Lantern I #7) - Raakj lived in the utopia of the 31st Century, and was banking on an appointment to the Supreme Science Society so he could finally get married to his sweetheart Dorna. His application was rejected because of his erratic temper and failure to assiduously check his scientific work. He cursed the Society, and came up with a plan to make his own fortune. He studied sporting and stock results from the 20th Century, and used a time machine to travel to 1942. He made a killing, but was abducted by gangster Nutsy Hagan, who wanted his inside info on betting. Mysteryman Green Lantern saved him, but he was not grateful. He knocked out GL, tying him up alongside Hagan and his men. He didn't want any more interference in his get-rich scheme, and after stealing a million dollars from Hagan he turned on a gas stove, leaving GL and the crooks to a poisonous death. GL and Nutsy escaped, but while Raakj was now rich he wanted prestige too, so he build a rocketship to go to the moon and retrieve radium, still a valuable fuel source in the future. GL, Doiby, Nutsy and his met caught up with him, but once they boarded the ship he took off anyway. They landed in the middle of a war between the Moon's native Selenites and the warlike Core-People, who were slavers. GL solved their crisis, and ended the war. As a reward the Selenites gave GL the Moon-Stone which could control the minds of men, and told him to use it to fight crime. Raakj and the others returned home, but Raakj stole the Moon-Stone, which he thought was more impressive than radium, and he returned to the future. He terrorized the Science Society with the Moon-Stone, and Dorna was horrified at what he'd become. GL traveled to Raakj time, fearing he would use his power to become a dictator. During their battle Dorna tried to stop Raakj and nearly plummeted to her death, but was saved by GL. Raakj realized the error of his ways, and returned the Moon-Stone to GL, promised he'd abandon his foolish quests for power.
