When exposed to a certain gas, it bonded to his face and concealed his features while still allowing him to see and breathe normally. The gas also changed the color of his hair and clothes. Question was a skilled fighter trained in several martial arts. He was keenly observant and exceptionally intuitive, making him an excellent detective.

History(The Dark Knight Strikes Again #1-3) - Rick Rickard was elected President of the United States, pivoting the U.S. towards fascism. Rickard was actually a computer hologram controlled by Lex Luthor, the real power behind the government. He systematically imprisoned heroes he was worried might cause his downfall. Question dedicated himself to overthrowing the government, although he realistically knew he might fail, and the rebellion he was planning would be left to future generations. Batman, who’d been living under the radar after faking his death during a fight with Superman three years previous decided to declare war on the U.S. Batman, his sidekick Carrie Kelley aka Catgirl and his loyal army of Batboys freed a number of superheroes from Luthor’s clutches and brought the fight to the villain. Question went to the Watering Hole, despite his dislike of drinking and bars to meet the broken down Martian Manhunter. Manhunter, now a barfly, said he knew why Question was there, but that he was useless to him, having had his powers taken away from him by Luthor after an injection of nanobots. Batman sent Green Arrow after Question, knowing he, too, wanted to build a new world, but objecting to his objectivist worldview. Arrow shot Question with steel arrows, and was convinced he’d killed him. Batman urged the youth of America to rise up against the government and ended up destabilizing it, with Lex Luthor meeting his end. Question and Arrow argued about what kind of new world would rise from the ashes.
