In Europe she tormented people in many guises, creating the legend of the wolf that tormented Red Riding Hood, among other fables. She wed a king and exiled her stepdaughter princess Snow White because people said she was the fairest in the land, and she was jealous. She sent a huntsman to kill White, but he spared her and a handsome prince married White. The Queen declared war on them because she couldn’t stand to see White happy. White grieved at the devastation and opened an enchanted storybook that trapped the Queen and all the cast of this tale inside the book. Tjhe Queen became the fictional archetype for every wicked witch and cruel stepmother in fairy tales. The magic book made fact into fable and story, so that their history no longer occurred except in the book. The Queen tyrannized the storybook world and became its ruler. The book passed through different hands over the centuries and ended up in Manhattan, where a woman unlocked it, freeing the Queen. The Queen of Fables transformed Manhattan into a medieval forest and kidnapped Wonder Woman, who she mistook for the princess, and put her into a deep sleep. The JLA entered the forest and rescued their teammate. The Queen attacked Manhattan with an army of goblins and ogres and took over Wonder Woman’s home in Themyscira. Wonder Woman used her lasso of truth on the Queen, making her realize that outside of her enchanted world she would age and die, then when she tried to renter the enchanted book Flash switched it at superspeed, leaving her trapped in United States Tax Code Manuel, a book with no room for imagination, cutting the Queen off from her powers.
