Gaunt was a skilled engineer who possessed superhuman intelligence and telepathy.History:
(Adventure Comics I #74) - Professor Gaunt theorized that vibrations could stimulate and enhance the unused neurons in a human brain, but the scientific community scoffed at him. Gaunt proved them fools when he invented a device to test his theories and used himself as a test subject. Possessing superhuman intelligence Gaunt tested his new intellect by beating a chess master and cleaning out a casino. He then turned to earning big money by robbing a safe, using his brains to figure out the impossible to figure lock combination. Sandman and Sandy saw his misdeeds, and tried to capture him, but he anticipated their actions and locked them in the vault. Gaunt got himself in trouble trying to break the same casino twice, and was approached by underworld elements associated with the gambling den. They told him they needed his brains for a crime spree, but Sandman and Sandy had tracked Gaunt down, and took out the criminals. Gaunt admitted that Sandman was the only problem he couldn’t figure out.Comments:
